Liquid Mycelium Question

My friend impregnated three jarz of liquid Mycelium two karo 10/6 and 9/21, and 1 jar brown rice flower and water on 9/20 with the hawks koh samui super. The two karo jarz have zero, zip mycelium but the brown specks can be seen in the water, The brow rice flower was kept as a "oh well might as well" since, once it was sterilized my friend noticed that it would be very dificult to tell when the mycelium was growing since the brown rice flower is white too, once in the water. Well today he lifted the brow rice water an loe, there were little whispy strands of mycelium clinging to the edges of the jar. Both karo jarz were pcd at 15 psi for 20 min allowed to cool etc. So we just don't understand this annomoly??? any ideas? And is his 9/21 jar just a lost cause by now?

Ive had better luck using organic honey, but karo seems to work for some people.
Ive never heard of BRF and Water for a liquid culture. Whats the ration of BRF to Water?
Oh, and are you incubating your jars? They should be kept at about 80F

I like honey too. It is supposed to fight contams. But it isn't as clear as karo.

If you use honey, I guarantee you'll think you might have contams at some point.

But once the myc is growing, you can rest easily.

Yea, his temps are at a constant 80f. I'll tell him he should try the honey then and see if he gets better results. Thanks!
