this idea has never made sense to me nor have i ever seen it end well, we sterilize our stuff to kill competitors including plants, sure it would look cool if ya pulled it off but things with roots need space which there won't be much of on a colonized sub, and if ya went the other way around i would bet you would grow mold or pests would ruin your project,and the mushrooms are gonna want lots of fresh air which won't be provided by any air pump or a few plants around it.
grow them separely and each will do better, it works great outdoors where they can share an awesome symbolic relationship but just ends in failure indoors.
