Hi, will about 12 hours a day of indirect sunlight damage mycelium growth, or will it help it raising the temp closer to 83(which i believe is the ideal temp). thanks

86 is ideal, not 83.. when the mycelium is colonizing the substrate it needs to be in the dark.. 100%. read the PF TEK or MMGG!

"Place the jars in a safe place out of direct sunlight. Indirect light is all that is required." This is a quote from the PF tek, so does this mean that indirect sunlight is okay?

From what I have read and understand...
Assuming you are speaking of colonizing jars to be birthed as cakes, You do not want to provide any light to your jars until full colonization. You can start to give them light when they are at full colonization if you want to induce invetro pinning prior to putting them in your terrarium. The PF Tek speaks of this in a short blurb near the end of the tek. You don?t want pins in your jars until they are ready to birth or you will have a bunch of rotting fruit bodies on your cake that would almost surely lead to contamination. Remember that you are trying to simulate conditions to that in the wild. Mycelium grows best from the bottom of the of the cow turd where there is no light. When the Myc. reaches the surface (is exposed to light) its time to fruit.
Or I could be completely wrong....

mushrooms are photo sensitive not photogenic. they only need light to know which ways up. according to the FBI investigation on PF and his shroom tek the only difference light during colonization does is make the shrooms darker and fatter. also ive heard from many sources that your chances of getting cakes with weak myco increases when you pt them in %100 dark. the only reason you would want to keep them out of light is if for some reason the UV where you live is outrageous. but then again, if thats true you got other, more pressing problems than shrroms.

Thanks for clearing that up Peyotl
