Lophophora decipiens was delivered today and it looks like shit.
    #19861166 -

I have received a few peyote's from this vendor but this one seems to be in bad shape. I have it sitting in a window seal at the moment until I take it home and add it too my little collection. I'm a newb at growing peyote and need some advise on the best options on turning this cacti around for the best. I currently have my other lophs under a 100w 6500k at 70-80ºf and they are doing well should I Just add this one and not worry?

It was dry but mushy with no soil when I opened it. I had it delivered to a po box. Stopped by a friends house an temporarily placed it in  a pot and gave it a little water until I take it home and plant it. Its been in transit for approx two weeks.

it doesn't look like you gave it a little water, it looks like you poured water over the entire thing.  let it dry out.

and once dry, it doesn't look like it will look like shit... if that makes any sense.  it looks as if you might have multiple dried fruits with countless seeds inside that fluff as well.

get it out of that orchid pot.  put it in some gravel-ish substrate.  whatever you do, don't water that old beauty like that again.  don't cause it to rot.

Agreed. Get it out of that soil and allow it to dry out. Planting it for a week in poor saturated soil and then uprooting will do it more harm than if you left it in a cool dry place until you could plant it into its pot.

The longer it sits in that pot the more chances it will get rust spots or rot.

Im potting it tomorrow in the proper soil mixture. The seed pouches in the truffs I got as many seeds out as I could find and plan on germinating tomorrow also.

Totally. This wetness will do it in every time.

Just for future reference, it is never a good idea to water a cactus immediately after receiving it in the mail.  Even if it looks thirsty upon arrival, give it a minimum of 1-2 weeks after potting it up before you water it next time.
