Decipiens is a variation of L. Williamsii, the species is just Williamsii variety Decipiens.

So it contains the same alkloids as L.Williamsii (because it is Williamsii)

man i'm no specialist but in taxonomy but you must understand the different levels like this:
family>genus>species>variety, for example:
cactaceae>trichocereus>bridgesii>cristate...
got it now?

I found these two cacti names.
I don't know which I have.It doesn't look like the fricci aren't williamsii.
I need to investigate further.
I also want to know about L. diffusa.

Lophophora fricii v. decipiens
L. williamsii var. decipiens

uhh i sure as hell know taxonomy, i'm not retarded..

I was asking more about what the hell you were talking about,
you said "is it a variety of williamsii", but my question was, is what a variety of williamsii, you didn't specify what variety.
And above in my first post i stated the decipiens was a variety of williamsii, thus answering your question if that was what you were referring to.

By the way you missed "Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, .... "

L. Difussa is a pre-evolutionary form of L. Williamsii, contains less mescaline as Williamsii, and contains considerably different phytochemical make-up. It is yellow-green and lacks ribs.

90% of the Alkaloids in Diffusa are a form of a sedative called pellotin .

-----
err pellotine, not pellotin

Whatever alkaloids are present in a plant Fricci will be present in it's variety decipiens. Although off hand i do not know what concentrations of alkaloids are in it. Perhaps some research on the net will help you.

Besides alkaloid concentrations are almost irrelevant when growing from seed, because it will be a hell of a long time before you will have a big enough specimen to consume. So it really makes no difference to you.

The seeds should still be good, probably a ltitle less viable but all good none the less. Once you use some seeds, store the rest in small little aluminum foil envelopes in a jar, or one of those old baked beans jars with the rubber seal in the freezer, they'll keep for a long time.
