GumbyDude is correct, it's a cactus, Lophophora williamsii var. decipiens.

Congratulations, you've found a US-based supplier of peyote seed. Now order before they get busted!

I just got this back from them.
We no longer offer it because the law on these seeds are unclear.
Luckily I already have some.

Well..it isnt mine..the tattoo..wich it was though..i should say ~10hours of work in that tattoo..check out www.darkimages.com for the artist..Paul Booth is his name.
And the L.williamsii was bought from a nursery here in Sweden, where i live.[it?s legal over here as long as one dont consume it..]..And i?m 27 so..well im not that old, but a little older than my L.williamsii anyways...
Check the nursery out at www.cactus-svante.nu

peace...

so the cactus that we are all talking about is a pretty strong cactus? ive heard that some of the peyote......like "diffusa" makes you sick. not a very pleasent cactus. but since this is a varient of a williams it is better...or at least ok?

i appologize for the way im writting right now guys...im typing with only onr hand, and i heaily medicated right now so just bare with me. and thanks for the info all.

and yes.....that is one kick ass tattoo:) phil

I have heard it is lophophora williamsii var. decipines.
I have also heard it is lophophora decipines, which wouldn't be a williamsii,
like lophophora diffusa isn't williamsii.
So I am not sure.

Anybody positive about this?

Have a look HERE...this is from Sacred and Medicinal Cacti by M.S. Smith...sort of the Stamets of the cactus world.

Croizat himself was uncertain of the creation of new classifications and in fact stated in his original write up on this "variation" that "in proposing varieties, I use the rank in a wholly non-committal sense." The epithet "decipiens" in fact means "misleading" and is used to name plants showing great similarity with another.

Formal chemical analysis of L. williamsii var. decipiens' full alkaloid content is lacking, but mescaline and pellotine concentrations are equivalent to L. williamsii.

It seems that the only "splitters" in this case are the people trying to get away with selling plants or seeds that would be otherwise obviously illegal -- ie, not taxonomists (an eventuality NZ authorities were thoughtful enough to prevent by simply banning Lophophora as a genus...grumble moan angst...)

well dammit. so it is comperable in mescaline? what would the alkaloid content have to do with then? would it be more comperable lets say to a sand pedro? or a little stronger like a prevvian torch? what would the alkaline content have an affect on? i still cant find anything on this cactus on the net...though that link was helpfull:) thanks man, phil
