Ehh she's right?

Olympic taekwondo is entirely kicking...Now the other TKD federation incorporates punches

Kicking is very useful in a fight. She also said mostly so I doubt shes talking about olympic tkd.

Why are you even in this thread? You clearly know very little about martial arts.

Kicking IS useful in a fight. However most modern Tae Kwon Do dojos teach kicking almost exclusively. Kicking is actually NOT that useful in a fight, if you don't ALSO learn the other aspects of fighting.

There is very little differentiation between olympic Tae Kwon Do and any other kind, because the Olympics is the highest competitive level a TKD practitioner can aspire to. That being said, there is an emphasis on points in TKD that does not exist in many other kickboxing styles. This is a big part of why when TKD fighters fight people from other styles they usually seem feeble and unable to do damage.

Are you talking to me? I might not have ever taken a martial arts class, but I do watch a lot of K1, Pride, and UFC fights. Oh, and I'm sure I've been in a lot more fights than you have. I'm not talking staged fights at your little "martial arts school," I'm talking real fights, where the cops are called, and I've got to explain myself to the po-po's.

Yes, kicking can help you to reach your opponent away from a farther distance. However, the reason I'm not a fan of kicking, is because every time you kick, your weight is imbalanced and on one foot. This makes you susceptible to falling if they were to punch or shove you during a kick. They can also easily grab your foot while it's in mid-air and do all sorts of things to you. How you going to get your foot out of a lock?

Ya know what ive had my foot grabbed a few times sparring and in fights... if you do tkd kicking shouldnt leaving you unbalanced you are supposed to maintain balance at all times otherwise technique is flawed... ive only been tossed on my ass twice maybe? How do I get my foot out of a leg lock? Tooth and nail, viciously... ive pulled them into me a few times which usually results in my hand on their throat... I mean ive also wrapped my legs around somebody after they grabbed my knee so I was hugging their arms in with my legs, face was free game.... you probably should just let people that wanna kick exhaust heir energy

No, I was agreeing with you.

OK then tuff girl:rolleyes: I'm sure your drunken 3AM arguments where one of your retard friends bottles another of your retard friends is more physically demanding than "staged fights" with trained fighters.

You don't have to be a fan of kicking. Especially since you don't know martial arts. I'll take a pass on considering your opinion.

I was just joking about the staged fight comment dude, I really don't know how to fight. I actually haven't been in a "real fight" in almost 8 years lol. Obviously somebody who is experienced in martial arts is going to kick my ass.

So how many of you warriors spar on the regular in any combat sport, that means 50% + power against a resisting opponent?

Mixed Martial Arts these days seems to consist entirely of sweaty, half-dressed men groping one another on the floor.
Not my cup of tea, sorry.
