Is it worth it to open jars in a glovebox to vent air?
    #1878455 - 09/03/03 07:38 PM (14 years, 21 days ago)

I built a glovebox ( http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat...;o=&fpart=1 ) and I was wondering if I should give it to my friend who has a jar. He wants to open the jar in the glovebox for some ventilation. It is in a pf jar with alluminum foil on top. It is in a ziplock bag because of the nature of the incubator though.

I woulnt bother, you'll risk contamination for minimal gain,

if you were using wbs or grain you would allow for air exchange through tvek or polyester fiber, but your pf jar should be fine as it is.

If they stalled because they are dry then you need to do them over...I need to let all you guys know that when you use really fine verm you need more water when doing BRF jars...I have been putting 70 ml of water or a little more an they are colonising really quickly...Ya need to remember that the PF-TEK suggest that you use 60 ml for optimum fruiting so if your verm is really fine you need to up that amount...My brf jars are colinising faster than any of my WBS or Corn ones this way
