HELP-incubating jars

My apartment is air conditioned and I need a good way to keep my jars at an optimum colonization temp. I'm poor and cannot afford anything- including a way to measure temp. I have a heating pad and thats about it. If I can use a heating pad I need to know what setting to set it on. I keep my jars in a shoe box. So how can I do this? Thanks in advance...

set it on medium... how high is your A/C???? if it's around 70 the gowth wont be THAT slow... They'll still grow! no worries... just have to wait like a day or three more. peace
