Is it ok to sterilize jars in advance of innoculat
    #609910 -

This is my first try. I just ordered some spore syringes and was wondering if it would be ok to have the jars all ready (filled and sterilized) to go a few days in advance of innoculation. If so about how long in advance is safe?................Hope it's not a dumb question but I couldn't find any info on this.

If you sterilize the substrate properly, it will be good for months(years?) since it will be completely sterile.

Even with the nail holes in the jar? I was thinking of wrapping the entire jars in sahran wrap.

Put some aluminium foil over the jar lid.

Just be sure you sterilize it well, 45 minutes in the pressure cooker or 90 minutes in the pot.

The way i learned was before putting the lid on... you put a sheet on tinfoil inside the jar and press it down so its almost touchings the substrate. then you add dry verm(this keeps out airborne bacteria), then put another sheet of tinfoil straight across the top. this way humidity in the jar cant escape. So yes as long as you sterilyzed them thouroughly they should last.
