Heating pads suck too.
Dry heat isn't as good as wet heat because it will dry out the jars, and that is bad because then the mycelium can't spread.
95-100 is too hot, but hopefully none of the mycelium is killed at those temps. The mid 80's is what you want to keep jars at, mid 70's for cakes after birth.

Being in the 60's shouldn't have hurt anything, as long as nothing is contaminated you should be fine.

This is the setup that I use and it seems to work great and it's pretty cheap.
A five gallon bucket with lid (sold at Home Depot or hardware store). 1 gallon spring water/ milk jug. 25 watt aquarium heater. The whole setup costs around $20 bucks, maybe less and it doesn't use much electricity. Fill water jug with water, put the heater in, and then put it inside the bucket. Adjust heater setting until the temp. is a steady 85-88 degrees. I throw a towel over the bucket for insulation and to block the light. Once the rig is up an running it provides a dark, draft-free and humid environment for germination.

Hey, another_dimension, you said that in the 60's is OK. ARe you sure? This would be great news. I thought I was having lack of mycelia due to "cold" temps, but maybe I just need to wait.

Mycelium will grow in the 60s, just slower. The ideal temp is 75-85 while in the jars. When you take out of the jars, ideal temperature is 65-75.

OK, they are at 77 right now. I will not be birthing them, so should I just keep it at 77 the whole time? After colonization?
