Those mother fucking jar lids!

Hi,

I just spent the last 3 hours attempting to unskrew the lids of 4 jars . I have no fucking idea why they were stuck, i even put the god damn jars in a fixed clamp and tried to turn...no luck! I tried EVERYTHING! I tried jamming a knife anywhere it would fit, i tried expanding the metal with a torch lighter(carefully)... nothing worked.

So i took the fucking things to my friends workshop and sawed the lids off. There was no rust, no dents nothing...what the fuck!

Unfortunatly i have 8 more jars! Oh well i didnt damage the Skiitake mycelium...i hope!

Those lids bend easily. If you are using a clamp or even squeezing too tight, you're only making it harder!

find a hard surface and throw it... Thats what i would do atleast..

They were just standard PF jars. Max, damnit that i should have considered that! I thought about smashing the jar with a hammer/throwing it but i didnt want to damage the mycelia. I should have took a picture of the grin on my face as i sawed the damn lid!

Has anywone had problems opening jars before? Any ideas why my lids "fused" to the glass?

LOL --- de ja vu -- been there / done that. Leave the jar lids a 1/4 to 1/2 turn loose & PC. Tighten when you remove & shake them.

The other messed up thing is i left the lids about 1/4 unskrewed. How could it be a vaccum problem, there is a hole in the lid and in the tin-foil ramsey seal. When you put the needle in the jar it goes through the tin-foil....
