i think she's pollen our legs, there aren't any bees at her place.

but if there are, just beecareful... don't buzz't a nut over some insects.
also, if you want the bees gone, it would beehoove you to fix the hole in the door.

just keep droning on with your daily activities and they'll bee gone soon.

We have taped off every possible way and guess what they keep fucking appearing. Why would I make this shit up? This is not funny

3. Sweep up dead bees.

sounds like these are stunkbur canadian winged bees.. after death their abdomens break open and 5 more small bees crawl out. these 5 bees grow rapidly and without stingers (usually) ,but have a very short life time, usually end up dying on the floor.

Did you try leaving any source of food for them outside?? Like sugar water or something. They could just be hungry.



Another thing that could help is reverse/double-sided tape by wherever they are getting in.

I've been doing bee research for the last couple of years, and have gained quite a bit of first hand bee knowledge, having pissed off tens of thousands at once. I have some news that probably won't be of much comfort, but here goes anyways.

Honey bees, if that's what you are dealing with, are remarkably non-aggressive. The ones you are seeing are foragers, as no other bees leave the hive (except for drones and the queen for mating purposes). The foragers have no instinct to sting you and almost certainly won't unless you completely endanger them. I've literally pet bees on flowers with my bare hands and got no response. So my best advice, leave the bees you see alone.

They do leave a scent when killed or threatened. Smells like bananas actually. Rest assured, it won't attract the other bees. Again, bees only really sting or attack in defense of the hive, and I don't think you are very close to it. If you were, you would know. Plus, I've opened hives with no smoke and no bee suit before and been fine. It really takes a lot to anger them. For the most part they just stick to their business if you stick to yours.

I hope this helped reassure you at least a little. It's one thing to hear about it, and another to believe it, but I assure you its true. I used to be terrified of bees and now I wouldn't flinch if I was caught in a swarm.

Do you have any ideas on why these bees are wanting to come in my apartment? at one point there were 4 outside on the patio, trying to get into through the spot where we watched them sneak in.

Its like they knew where to go. Then they usually get stuck in the blinds or lamp. Over the years ive tried to just ignore bugs in general, as they all serve a purpose and I know we really need bees, but experiencing one of your old worst nightmares in an apartment.

Could they be after my prickly pears?

No idea why they are trying to get in. I suppose it's possible they found a good food source and are looking for it. Bees report on the food they found when they return to the hive; where it is, how far it is, and how good it is. I don't think that's why, but I also don't see any other possibility.

And they do know where to go. The reason you are seeing more get in is because they've learned how to get in and communicated that information to the other bees. It sounds pretty creepy, but again the bees aren't there to hurt you.

Do you notice them going to anything in the house? Flowers, prickly pears, sticky counters? Or once they get in, are they just trying to get out?

They are just trying to get out. They fly or crawl right to the window across the room

Do you have any incense?? I wonder if putting a lit stick/cone inside and/or outside (where they're getting in) would make a difference.

My thought is they get in and get scared, so instinctually fly towards the bright light to try to escape. In our lab, when we brought in frames of bees, 99.99% of the ones that got away flew straight up into the fluorescent light and ignored us completely. I can't imagine why they are trying to get in so much, but I suppose it's possible they smell something sweet, and then once they get in forget about it and try to get out.

It doesn't sound like the bees are being aggressive, so I really doubt you have anything to worry about unless you step on one.

I don't think incense would make a difference, but I suppose it couldn't hurt :shrug:


One thing I am puzzled by is why it's happened over multiple days. I figure the bees would forget about your house the next day and not return. I don't really have an answer for that, except that they must be finding something in your house worthwhile. Still, I think you have nothing to worry about, and once the pest guy comes he can take care of the problem for good, and then you can sleep easy.

Its been about an hour and a half, we have taped off every exit and we haven't encountered anymore. I cant imagine what they would be wanting besides those pears. I do have a wax melter that I put a new scent in on Friday. Idk if that would make them want it.

So weird, lol. But I feel much better thanks to you and duct tape.

Glad I could help! Let us know if the problem gets worse suddenly. Likewise, if you notice anything particularly weird, like bees trying to get in after dark or a huge influx of them, let us know as well. That would provide more evidence to try and pinpoint the problem.

You said the pest guy comes on Thursday, right? For now, just try and relax or maybe go on an impromptu two day vacation :wink:

I'm sorry you're getting so frustrated, Life of Mushie, but, you know, everytiem you sit down and eat practically ANYTHING, it's because of those little be buggers. I know they are really PEEING you off, but, like, bees have a heart too.

They are actually amazing creatures, and are my friends in the garden.



Anyways.

Solve the problem, kill them fine, but just don't use poison to do that. It's hard to clean from your living area.

For the record, I normally wouldn't support the use of commercial pest control against the bees, but I understand how stressful and unnerving this situation can be. As much as I love and am fascinated by bees, they can definitely intrude on a person's life at times and cause a lot of stress, and I think that remedying this situation is important to VivaLaMushie's and her boyfriend's mental and physical health. I wish I knew why the bees were getting in, because then I could propose a fix, but I don't. So for now, looks like pest control is the best option, and I hope that guy gets there when he said so that you don't have to deal with this any longer.

Oh, and nice looking garden by the way! I'm glad the bees are helping you out with it!:smile:

Well, I am a woman so these situations freak me out bad. The apt is waiting on the pest man, yeahm but they said even then they wont know what to do Bc they don't know where they're coming from.

We will see what happens.
