Why does it matter- it is cruel and a horrible thing to do to a living creature just for your entertainment!  :mad2:

True I supose(especially since I happen to think bees are really cool)

Like if your cat cant grasp philosophy or tell me what it thinks of music , is that I reason to kick it???

I suppose not.

You probably aren't going to break your dogs leg or kill it by picking on it. Plus your dog understands because she/he is your PET and is used to humans playing with her/him. That is part of a dogs life. Bees are not playful mammals.

You know what I like about this thread? It has a surreal title (hell, I thought it was about a new band or an indy film), but what's even more surreal about it is, that it delivers just what it says it will -- it's about an actual bee on a leash!

You just gotta love the internet!

first of all, i am 100% sure a bee isnt strong enough to fly with any anount of dental floss tied to him, maybe this would work with a human hair

I do believe that a strand of hair was the 'original' way to do this, as this is a super old trick, and I don't think you put them in a freezer either... the idea was to catch one while it was feeding on a flower, but anyway....

I agree with phishgrrl, HOW CRUEL!!! Poor bee  :frown:

Bees are close enough to us to feel pain.

They are not smart enough to tell what is causing the problem, but they know there is one. As long as you are not hurting it, what you are doing is okay in my book, but not hurting the bee is near impossible in this proceidure. It probably shouldn't be done.

At lease give the bee some honey to bring back home after the ordeal. If you don't have that, a pan of sugar water or mollassess will suffice.

If you are going to do this shit, please be nice to the creature. The bug will bug out regardless and might kill itself to sting you showing how much it is aggitated and hateful of the situation. I personally don't kill an insect unless it is trying to bite me (mosquitoes) or by accident. Most buggers aren't bad, so I say give em respect as living beings like we respect each other.

bees can fly with string on them i have seen it.
i hate insects so it is well. individual bees are so insignificant and a pain in the ass i say tie all the bees up. insects are sick man with all their legs and eyes and shit. plus they are nothing like animals, we are more related to mushrooms than insects, at least cell wise.

First of all, I'm 110% sure your completely and totally wrong. I've personally done this. I spent all day trying to catch a bee, and everyone kept laughing and making fun of me. Finally I did catch one, and stuck him in the freezer for a while then just managed to tie him up with dental floss (no hemostats or tweezers or anything). I held one end and the be flew around, it was one of the coolest things I've ever done. The bee lived, it was fine. I'm sorry if it was cruel, I guess I'm just an asshole but I don't give a fuck about bees. They sting me. Everyone who was there and witnessed it also thought it was really cool, and they all got stuck with their feet in their mouths for making fun of me and saying I couldn't do it.

I suppose it is cruel and horrible. And no I didn't just keep the bees I let them go after a little while. Also the hemostats were not necessary just a precaution.
