Don't know if anybody brought this up, but farmers can purchase bees for their fields.  ( http://www.pollinatorparadise.com/Solitary_Bees/Supply.htm )

Out here people who grow alfalfa need "cutter bees" in specific to help pollinate them, and after the season is done the bees get gassed.  If I remember right, somewhere around 5,000 bees is needed for every 1/4 section ( or 160 acres )

I understand what Albert Einstein is getting at, but I don't think that will be a good way to measure the possible end of the earth.

..why can't mesquitoes go extinct..:mad2:

Hunanity won't die if all bees dropped off at once. Perhaps 99% of us would, but not 100%

It would be interesting to genetically engineer bees so their stingers contain Salvinorin A instead of venom. Imagine getting stung by a bee but it doesn't hurt, and the next thing you know the lawn chair you're sitting in turns into a Venus Fly Trap trying to swallow you whole. That would return respect for mother nature to the people :yesnod:

The scientists are also surprised that bees and other insects usually
leave the abandoned hives untouched. Nearby bee populations or
parasites would normally raid the honey and pollen stores of colonies
that have died for other reasons, such as excessive winter cold.
“This suggests that there is something toxic in the colony itself
which is repelling them,” says Cox-Foster

uummm...I was refering specifically to the quoteee, not the quoter (i.e. Albert Einstein)

the point of the joke, naturally, being that
IF no bees = no food
THEN we start eating eachother instead

allthough...I would guess you'd probably havta know that 'soylent green' was made from people to be able to catch on to that one :shrugs:

so what's killing all these fuckin bees anyway? i didn't even know they were dying

Until the 20th century, reality was everything humans could touch, smell, see,
and hear.
Since the initial publication of the charged electromagnetic spectrum, humans
learned that what they can touch, smell, see, and hear... is less than one
millionth of reality.
