OMG those are so cool looking!  I was curious if you spray a disinfectant aerosol in that room very often...or if you use anything with alcohol fumes nearby very often?

i've never used aerosol of any kind.

only alcohol fumes have been minimal from wiping down my gloves once a week or so when i do agar transfers.

i also spray out my sab with 10:1 bleach maybe once a week as well.

i highly doubt either of these things have been in strong enough concentration to effect the tubs.

Mutants are a genetic phenomena.

No, they're the larval stage of baby hippopotamus.

top holes are as loose as i can get without them falling out.  i'm done trying to figure out what else i can do to help these.

chalking it up to mutations and one big ass green spot in one of the tubs.

just finished harvesting.  the ones in my hand were a pretty average sample of the fruits up close.

i always thought i'd carefully pick through each and every fruit and get the precise angle for the cut, then go back through and carefully snip each pin... screw that.  turned out there was a smaller green spot on the bottom side of the other one as well.  i was so glad i wasn't going for a second flush.  grab, rip, trim, next! lol  i cant fit it all into my 5 tray dehydrator so i'll have to do it over 2 days.

questions and observations:

when drying can i just throw them in, does it matter if they are touching or stacked in some spots?  i see lots of pics where they are all lined out nice and neat, is that just to look good?  cause that just seems like work to me...

there was about half to one cup of standing water in the bottom of my lined tray that came out when i trashed the sub.  what's that all about?  i only misted one time and it was very lightly.  i'm guessing either over hydration at mix or poor evap/FAE?

are the little pins like aborts in that they will mess you up?

when you harvest, how important is it to get all the pins off before dunk in preparation for the next flush?

at the base of some of the fruits where it grew into the sub, either at or below sub level, there was a chalky substance inside the stems.  it never came up into the stalks very far and wasn't on all the fruits.  it reminded me of wet chalk, or wet clay, or a tylenol pill that was dropped in water for a sec then pulled out.

i will never, NEVER do another tub without a liner.  frikkin pain in the ass.

i'll UTFSE for all these questions too but thought i'd throw it up here while i was thinking of it.

again, thanks in advance

also, is it normal for your lower polyfill to be moist at all?  i noticed mine was when i removed it.

Well apparently I was way off guessing the strain. I have absolutely no idea what that is.

True enough. Had to ask

i believe the term is sub-species, and that would be B+.

still looking for input on questions a few posts up if anyone would care to chime in.

Nope, just make sure they are all cracker dry.

It is condensation and there is nothing to worry about. Your substrate is warmer than the tray. Condensation builds up and drips down. Hell, you could probably drink that water as long as there is no sediment in it

Every tub I do, I end up with puddles under the liner. Since they are under the liner, there is zero concern. If they were against the sub, it would just get reabsorbed.

Most likely not. Aborts are unique in that they are very potent by weight.

No, and you also don't need to dunk your bulk after the first flush. Mist it daily or just pour a small pitcher of water around the sides of the substrate (pulling back the liner if there is one).

Sounds like mycelium, nothing to worry about. Though if the substrate they were on starts growing mold, it's possible that it is a mold growing alongside your mycelium. While this is rare I've had a major issue with it in the past.

I've never seen something like that in my stems though I never really checked them to be honest

They were also fine to eat after drying.

thanks all who humored me on my questions.  excellent input Frank.

total dry weight = 122g from 2 contaminated tubs.  all things told, i'm happy, and hopeful that i can increase that with my next round.

now i know what mothers feel like when their kids go off to college.  i officially have empty next syndrome.  guess i'll just sit around and watch my grain colonize...
