those little mushies that dont really open all the way before the viel breaks.

I got some cakes and the mushies on them are the smaller ones with small caps that don't really open all the way up before the viel breaks.. should I harvest them now or wait for them to open up all the way?? do they weigh more fully opened?

Won't be much difference in potency if you wait, only a spore mess.  Sounds like you may have low lighting, how is the setup?

That's usually related to substrate moisture content. Too wet or too dry will have the same effect, small mushrooms.  Pick up the cake and you can tell by the weight which it is.

One thing that helped determining if it was too dry for normal half pints, when weighed they will be about 100grams at good moisture content and closer to 70g if too dry.  I believe that's right.  I know it is hard to tell what is right when first starting.

Those look pretty much normal to me, you can maybe wait another 12 hours or so.  Just when the veil starts to tear on some.  It still takes a while for them to drop spores after the veil tears.
