Friend wants to transport mushrooms on a commercial flight

My friend is going to Vegas in a couple of weeks and wants to bring some shrooms with him.  He came to me asking what is the best way to get them down there safely. I was sure to emphasize the risk associated with doing this, but he seems set on doing it.

We discussed grinding the mushrooms to the finest powder possible and mixing it with his protein powder shake mix. Then carrying his shake mix with him on the plane.

What do you guys think of this idea?  Do you have any suggestions for other ways of going about transporting a small amount of mushrooms on a plane?

Sounds like a fine idea. My friend once ground up the mushies, put them in gelcaps, and then put them with a mix of vitamins in a vitamin bottle.

This was our exact other idea. Buy some sort of herbal supplement that comes in gelcaps. And fill them up with Mushie powder and mix them back in with the supplement.

I think powders and liquids in a carry on are a no no, put the protein powder mix in his Checked luggage it will go through an X-ray they'll see a thing of protein powder, at worst they open it, see powder and close it back up and put back in bag.

Powder them and mix it with melted chocolates, put into a mold or ice cube tray, pack it in your checked luggage with some other food items

BRAVE! really brave to think of doing this.... you want to get away with it??? make sandwiches cut up ya mushies an put it on them... don't use butter obv.... no one will suspect a thing.

We discussed making chocolates, but I think even some retarded tsa screener is aware that people make candy/chocolates with drugs in them. Seems like there is more risk.

Also, I was not aware that they allowed you to bring food through security like that.

off course you can bring your pack lunch threw no problem i've done it every time i've been abroad... you can even put it threw the machine... nothing odd about a mushroom and ham sandwich they won't even be suspecting anything like that.

I imagine it is fairly common for people to travel with their protein powder. What would make them suspect this particular jug contained cocaine?  How likely is it that a dog would smell the mushrooms?

Possible but not likely and believe me if you go to vegas there suspecting cocaine... imagine how much money you could make there with that stuff just be careful man.

Grind them up and mail it to yourself or wherever you are staying.  It is by FAR the safest way.  If you have to bring it on a plane then capsule them up and put them in a herbal supplement bottle by themselves, not mixed with a bunch of stuff.  The protein powder is meh.  Just mail them to yourself in a very secure package, just grind them up and vacuum seal it and send... that is your best and safest option.

This....don't be stupid. Your friend is looking at serious trouble if this shit fails....AND depending on where he is he might have to deal with the Vegas court system.

No that´s a bad idea.  The drug dealers in vegas are very shady, at least the ones that sell to tourists.  There are also a lot of undercover officers in the casinos doing buy-bust operatins on travelers.

He should make the mushrooms into food, and bring the food.  Any food exept brownies is good.  I´d stay away from cookies/chocolates and bring it in dinner food.

The protien powder will work as well.  They don´t test peoples protien powder for drugs...

Psilocybin tests take a long time, it´s not like a quick cocaine test that the TSA can do as your bag goes by.

Emptying echinacea capsules and putting in mushroom powder is also a good idea.

The TSA is extremely bad at finding small amounts of drugs.  They are looking for dangerous objects, and occasionally find drugs.  However if your drugs are very small, the chances of them slipping through are better than 99%.  If they don´t look like drugs, the chance that you can fly with drugs without being caught is nearly 100%.
