I wasn't about to buy into his premise of being repeatedly abducted by aliens, but then I read the subtitle ('A True Story') and all my doubts vanished.

I actually read that book back in high school. To be totally fair, he doesn't actually claim to know that it was aliens; he specifically says several times in the book that it may well have all been hallucinated and that the "aliens" may have been creations of his own psyche. Which, of course, I believe they were, but the narrative is still interesting enough.
