Although I do take the high road (of what is admittedly my own making) while here on the boards, I think y'all might be assuming quite a bit if you think I walk into interviews (in the rare instances I can GET interviews)

why don't you get interviews if you have such a vast knowledge of all things relavent?

really?  You get riled?  Me? I have never been riled on these boards.  I welcome opposition.  In fact i prefer it in all its forms, preferably the non self-rightous opposition of others.  Self-rightious people get my pity, not my attention.

so you admit to being a pompous ass? Well i guess that's cleared up. :smirk:

why would you be a pompous ass?

Yah. So anyway...

I'm curious how other people feel about the initial topic here. There are obviously more people than just SilverSoul and I who are feeling like this lately, and I actually want to know how you are dealing with it?

Yeah winter sux here but it makes you appreciate warmth much more.. If you want mild winters then BC would probably be the best choice as they don't even get winter compared to the rest of Canada

I say leave. You only risking your freedom and happiness by staying. You will not make a differance...no matter how hard you try. You think the states will be around for ever? countries come and go and all one can do is live as they see fit to the best of thier ability...

Which part of canada are you coming to?

I'd say wait until the 2004 elections. If Bush gets a second term, I would leave because no amount of "fighting" will change the fact that he'll have another four years to destroy the country even further. And this time, without a re-election to worry about, he'll pull out all the stops.

In the meantime, stay here and fight to make sure he DOESN'T get a second term. Volunteer for the campaign of the candidate of your choice. Contribute money UNTIL IT HURTS. You'll be hurting a lot more if Bush gets a second term.

I have had those thoughts before.I am going to stay and fight for my country. My fathers people came here in 1680.I have had relatives die in war.My families blood makes it's my country and i shall never leave. It's only bad here because our country is populated by cowards.Even a coward will fight when there is no place to hide.Actually i have been waiting for something to wake America up,i hope this is it.I prefer Anarchy to a bastard republic.

I can't stand either of them, but it almost sounds like a good idea.....almost.

If you owned a business that you could run from anywhere, or could pay people to run for you and you just collected a check every month you could move to Canada, live there, but still remain an American Citizen and only come here to vote.

Perfect.

Cornholia, good post. Yeah it's relaxed there indeed. I had a ball. Did you go on a canal ride? That was funny.

The hotel I blazed up, I opened the curtains on my room and it looked out to a sex shop and a cafe next to it haha.

The pros in windows, the hustlers on the entrances of the sex shows...all happening esp. after dark. Don't even try and take pics of the pros in the windows, that's a no-no. My only complaint (aside the lack of public toilets) were the street dealers, damn they were pushy and poor in memory. I was asked so many times by the same dealers again and again if I wanted e's, coke, speed ect. Nah, no thanks.

This was weird to stumble into after topping up at a cafe (it sorta sums it all up)...

..and everything easy to get to.

Gotta say, the Americans I ran into were totally blown on how liberal it was. "Nothing like back home" they said. They only wished the US would ease up and fair enough too!! However it wasn't so acute for me as Cannabis is decriminalized and Australia is no where near the drug hysteria of the US. But the Dutch sure have it relaxed. Very civilised. You could even smoke a joint whilst you tapped out an email in an internet cafe. A definite Mecca pilgrimage for all connoisseurs of pot and shroomers alike.

In theme of this thread, if I lived in the US I'd at least travel and taste (literally) the freedom. You might even decide to leave permanently (I know a number of you would). I don't see your country changing, very few vote as a compulsory vote is viewed as undemocratic lol whatever. No, I didn't know what I'd see on a canal that I couldn't see walking along the streets, since the canals all ran right alongside the roads.

Ah, when I clicked on your photo I saw the Theatre Casa Rosso.  I was there watching a live sex show when Dave Attell and crew came in and sat down right next to me.  We struck up a little conversation (he's a cool guy), and he filmed part of his "Insomniac" Amsterdam show there.  If you look real close, I'm one of the three guys that you can see in the background while he is making commentary inside the sex theater. ("Insomniac" is an American tv show on the Comedy Central channel).

Lol, you can watch XXX rated movies on public t.v. after midnight, so I doubt anyone who's from there would consider a statue of a penis a big deal.  In fact, I have a photo of my Girlfriend standing by a penis that's nearly twice as large as she is (but I won't post it here to protect the "innocent")  :smile2:

Very civilized indeed.  I posted a picture of a coffee shop (marijuana) and a smart shop (magic mushrooms) in my pictures above.  No one there is in fear of being arrested for possession, so everyone's relaxed.  Not like so many people in the US that get paranoid anytime a cop drives by or anytime they get pulled over.

Yep, and we're getting ready to turn the drug war up even more as Canadian laws get less repressive.  :shake:
