Lars sucks. The peak of his drumming was And Justice For All. He just keeps getting worse, I don't get it. Other notable thrash drummers, such as Dave Lombardo, are still getting better.

The Black Album is terrible in my opinion. It's so boring and Lars drumming is fucking repetitive it's like he just reused the same drum track for every song. The lyrics to all the songs are lame too.

I dig old Metallica a lot, the Kill 'Em All album is my favorite, but that's probably because Dave Mustaine had a big influence on it and I like Megadeth.

Yeah I agree Kill Em All or Ride the Lightning, I have a hard time. At least some people like the Black Album though, everybody hates everything after :lol:

Kill 'Em All up to And Justice For All are all great albums. I think the And Justice For All album sounds like shit though because of the recording quality.

I feel like a hypocrite though...my first Metallica album was the Black Album. I got it in 8th grade and before that I was listening to bands like Creed and Puddle of Mud :lol: I thought it was awesome as it was my first real venture into the metal genre. I started to listen to older Metallica and realized I liked it even more. So, I guess I can't hate the Black Album too much because it did help me discover other stuff.

I liked most of what they did up to and including Justice, but they got kind of weird after that. I guess the Garage one was ok too.

Their music isn't very complicated to play on the guitar.

Brann Dailor (Mastodon) is my favourite metal drummer. :headbanger:

Well, Master was definitely their best album, but you didn't like Justice? I thought that all 3 of the Metallica albums Flemming Rasmussen produced were pretty good.

just a personal preference, based on the score too rather than the production

But, I also prefer bands like Testament, Megadeth, Anthrax. Slayer.

There are a bunch of good newer metal bands out there too. I like the metal channel on Sirius/XM. Good stuff.

Slayer is sick.  I really dig Mastodon for newer metal, and a few other bands as well.  Metal is the sickness, i love it.

Mastadon.  That is true metal.  Metallica futs more into hard rock compared to Mastadon.
