Metallica - Death Magnetic

So Metallica's new album "Death Magnetic" will be out on the 12th of September.

I know there's so Metallica fans here, and also some people who really aren't fans. This is for the fans, please.

Who here has already heard it? I downloaded a copy last night, haven't gotten all the way through it, only a few songs. It seems like a huge improvement over St. Anger (like that was hard to beat). It is supposed to sound like the linking album between AJFA and the Black Album. Musically, I'd agree with that statement. I'm not overjoyed by James' vocals on this new album, he's not as good as he used to be imho, but I like the riffs, it's hard hitting, fast, upbeat. The solos aren't quite Kirk level, but some of them aren't bad.

A French record store released it early, so there's ripped copies all over the net. Demonoid etc...

I'd like to know what you Metallica fans think.

BTW I'm so stoked they're going to be playing in the LA area in December the day I finish school! I'll finally get to see Metallica! I was hoping for a 2009 tour for the new album, but 2008 I wasn't expecting. I'm gonna try and see all 3 shows in the LA area (1 in Ontario, 2 at the Forum in Inglewood).

i heard some of it. its alright. not amazing but it is better than st anger(Yeah that wasnt hard to beat) they just used an old formula to make the songs. Its definatly the "Metallica" style.

i think i heard 'the day that never comes' the other day on th radio. i thought it was pretty good considering the last few albums they have released.

i heard the radio single. i thought it was terrible. and i used to be a metallica fan to be reckoned with.

they have lost any kind of musical inspiration.

Used to be my favorite band, now I just wish they retired 3 albums ago.  The last album of any worth was the black album.  I'm so disappointed.

I listened to a couple of their new songs off of this album and I almost feel embarrassed for how bad they are now.

I wish I could feel different, but I don't.

hahah I was thinking that Lars would definitely get sand in his vag if he heard about the French record store thing. He's a total douche, though, so who cares.

I heard a song off the new album on the radio at work a few days ago and have to agree that it def sounds better than anything I've heard from them in YEARS! Good job guys!

Rick Rubin can definitely do miracles in the studio. He's a master of the arts.

i still think they suck now... once that new bassist was consider in the band, thats when they all went down the shitter.. fuck the bassist, i think he ruined the band cuz b4 he was in, they were kick ass. fuck the new metallica they blow, the old shit rules n always will!

Crap I didn't realize they had released a new Album.  I don't even think I've heard anything off St. Anger other than the song that was on the radio and a few a buddy showed me - I wasn't impressed.  It's been awhile, but I checked there new stuff out just now... I agree it's a lot better than what St. Anger was.

Still nothing like the Older days, but what can you do?  I'm diggin' it at least.

all my favorite bands have been consistently letting me down and this record is no different.  the hype around it was too much; it ended up too shitty.  i'll personally stop at AJFA and dabble occasionally elsewhere.

robert trujillo is an AWESOME bass player.  if you're going to blame something for metallica sucking, blame james' lack of booze and meth.

sobering up and cutting the hair definitely hurt the band.

AJFA is imo their best album in entirety, but Master, Ride, and Metallica are also kickass. Kill em All is good too, but I don't think they were quite there yet. Master and AJFA are their top2. Load and Reload blow. couple decent songs, but meh.

i really dig the justice album. i think it's one of the best metal albums evar. but i'm not too well versed in that area, so i can't really say.
