It's been awhile since I listened to this but just popped it in today. I forgot how powerful these songs are.
As much as they sold out, Metallica once knew what was up and were fucking gods.

The first five up till the black album are great. Its the black album where you can see they are trying to change their style to fit more into the mainstream.

I still really like the black album though. When they made it, the producers or whoever wanted James to try singing out more, which he did well I think.

S&M is a cool album. If there was ever a Metallica album to let your mom listen to, this is it.

i disagree, the black album they were working with new producers or whatever who pushed them to perfect their tunes, but since they were proffesionals and not artists themselves (atleast from what i know) their idea of perfection was the mainstream perfection and so it wasnt metallica themselves who were selling out, just being pushed by their record label. but yea, after black label, i think, is when they started changing to mainstream.
either way, black album rocks! black album and master of puppets album are godly.

I PERSONALLY think that if you claim to be a Metallica fan, and now call them "sell outs" your not a fan at all. Why do you think they are sell outs btw?
