To ignore someone may be to metaphorically kill them. The relationship between two people may represent a community at its core. Even a single person with an alter ego may represent a community, and a community within oneself. When either person decides to ignore the other, then the community's health may diminish.

The reality may be that unity may be possible despite the interpretations mentioned above. It may not occur as quickly as most people may want it to, but nonetheless, it may be a possibility important to understand -as well as- may be the possibility of it not occurring.

My point - All of our thoughts, all of our ideas about "who we are" are veils of our true existence, because, logically, all we do is exist. That's it. So what does this mean to me? It means that while we have our personal lives, our individuality, we only DREAM that WE actually HAVE these things, that somehow we OWN things and therefore we are seperate from that guy over there who OWNS those things and that gal over there too! they are fleeting perceptions.
:the reality: we are one. we are all one! that is what it means to exist because we all exist at the same time in the exact same place. This might seem irrational, but no occupation, no idealism, no government can alter that fact of reality. No ego can alter this fact, which means we don't have to "get rid of the ego" to be awake... just perfect it.
