I have just finished doing a few grafts. There will be a some fails in this lot as there was a few very small albinos that I don't think will make it.

Grafted Today
10 x Loph's
20 x Trich's

I will post the full breakdown later

Cheers

 I just got my first seeds in the incubator ("Kimura's giant"X"SS02" and "huachuma de Chavin" pachanoid) and some pereskiopsis cuttings. Probably too late for the competition though...

So naum is has added to the prize pool.

Some open pollinated Astrophytum seeds from a table of variegated and mutant specimens.

All the prizes are in the original post.

Remember its NOT too late to join. The lopho competition is first to flower and the trichocereus competition is largest volume by that amount of time. (Perhaps will change to largest volume the quickest or another solution? Need more feedback on this)

here's my 1 texana. hoping i have a good candidate germing for a 2nd right now.

here are the bridgesiis. is it too soon to put in in the window? it's not strong light and, would be placed in a spot where it does not get direct sun for very long, and only late in the afternoon. indirect lighting through the window otherwise.

They're large enough to start receiving some sunlight. Just introduce them slowly. They'll fatten up considerably too.

So the main competition is the first loph to flower and the largest volume Trichocereus when the first loph flowers? If so this is going to take some time.

I see kyoto is offering a prize for longest Trichocereus in August. How about we offer some of the other prizes for this time period as well? A secondary competition. Like largest volume loph for example. Split these prizes up a bit.??

I totally agree on splitting the prizes up as the prize pool is certainly big enough. As I have said before what I am donating I dont mind who it goes to as long as it is used for the comp in some way.
I recon we need a prize for the slackest grafter and the smallest grafts then I might be in with a chance. :crazy2:

Sorry I keep getting that wrong.

The lopho comp is QUICKEST to flower so late joins have an equal chance to win and trichocereus comp Should be largest mass in that amount of time. Ill add largest lopho like you suggested.

I agree with dividing the prizes more since there are lots of prizes now. Ill try to divide it up more this afternoon.

My variegated and albino loph are plump but haven't grown a single bees dick! I've removed the shade cloth that was covering them so hopefully the more light helps them grow or do something at least.
Im gonna lose :frown: these things are gonna take 5 years to flower.

I've noticed that when grafts take a long time to start growing they make up for it with explosive growth.

I updated the prizes... MAY change slightly again.

Its unbelievable how much and fast my loph has grown, its also putting out a pup lol ill post photos on the 14th exactly 1 month after the graft <3

also, my trich never grew but instead shot out a pup from a lower areole and that is whats growing

also i have a bunch of wierd seedlings

a hairless loph seedling shot out a pup from its centerm  another loph is just growing hairless, and a trich seedling also pupped from the center but did have hair. it looks like a seedling grafted to a seedling
