I disabled the chat thing in my posts, now the Halloween skin will not work for me when I tried to set it to the Halloween skin after changing displays preferences reset it.

I suggest they make it a subtle icon, like the male/female icon rather than a big ass green/red banner.

Would a simple offline indicator be the lack of an online indicator, lol why u do this?

If we're going to have indication for on and offline then yes it should be on the sex/journal/pics/trophy line.

   

Personally, I like the blue icon on the username line when in chat, non-existent when not in chat idea.

A simple chat bubble icon on the "sex/journal/pics/trophy line" that's there when they're in chat and that's not there when they're not.

then again, that'll look pretty ugly for people who normally have nothing on that line (which is a lot of people). and annoying to have a user's "profile box" FORMATTING CONSTANTly changing.

My thinking behind having it on the username line is this.  This feature is obviously meant to catch the eye and recruit new regular chat users.  Some people have journals but don't share their gender, others have their gender set and have some pics but no journal, ect, ect.  This means that the number of icons on that line are changing from post to post and user to user.  If the function of this icon is to make the chat more noticeable then having the indicator on a line that is constantly changing isn't a good idea.

Now when it's someones B-day I notice that, and when someone is a mod/admin/supporter I notice that, and if a chat bubble appeared next to a screen name I'd notice that too which would make me think "hey, they want to chat and are currently chatting."  I don't know, maybe I'm thinking too much into it....well, no maybe about it.

Anyways, like I said, I support the blue bubble next to the username when in chat, gone when not in chat.

Good point. And remember, there's already the online/offline indicator thing on that line (gray for people who choose to be hidden).

When people look to see if someone has a journal/gender or whatever else goes on that line it's were they look, it's already intuitive. I don't think it'd be as much of an eyesore if it's were people already expect icons to be, unlike were a supporter symbol is or Admin.

I like the idea, I just think the display could be a bit more subtle.


Instead of a giant red bar, how about doing another little light like the one for online/offline?
