I know someone that grows the mycelium, dries it at 43?C , grinds and uses it like any other spice. Same does with morchella mycelium.

He follows a recipe from a spanish cultivation book. He grows the mycelium in agar plates, then transfers it to a solution made of: glucosa 175g, fosfato monoam?nico 14g, extracto saturado de maiz 70g, carbonato c?lcico 14g, agente antiespumante a base de siliconas 3,5g, water 7 litres; excuse me, but I?d to write it in spanish cause it?s too difficult to translate. He puts it in culture tubes and in a shaker, for 3-4 days at 25?C. Then he transfers the mycelium again, but this time to bigger containers such as jars or flasks containing the same solution, 4-5 days at 25-28?C with air echange. Finally, he dries it at 43?C to avoid the loss of aroma.

I tried to culture a bolete on agar and it didnt take. I dont know why? But it was fresh. A wild oyster I picked that same day has grown over an inch.

I also know a guy that did the same with cantharelle mycellium. He said that it tastes like normal cantharelles.

Yes, I have my doubts about it too. :smirk:
But it's the same guy that told me also about biological fermentation of straw.

11 years ago, my dad purchased a 23 acre property in new zealand for $78000 NZD (40000 USD?) and planted it with radiata pines. About 8 years later sillius luteus* (slippery jack?) some kind of edible bolete started growing everywhere. So i sort of own a private slippery jack forest. It only generates about a shopping bag of fruits a year though, so i can't sell them.
