Folding @ Home Problem, Cannot submit completed units
    #17051675 -

I just upgraded to a new computer recently and noticed that it won't upload my work units =(  The computer operates on Windows 7, and I am using the GUI client of F@H.  The only option I have checked under the connections tab is allow the download of work units over 10mb.  I have tried disabling my firewall and it did not change anything.  Anyone have any idea what might be going on here?

Definitely seems like a firewall issue.  What antivirus suite or firewall software do you use? Just Windows inherent firewall?

Try running a trace route to that address in the log.  I used to use the GUI but now use the console version, smp, which does large workloads and had to put an exception in my firewall program for it.

This machine is pre-loaded with Norton Anti-virus.  I plan on switching to Avast when the trial runs out.  I tried to find a way add an exception, but it's been so long since I've messed with any of this stuff that I'm not sure where it is anymore.

I also tried disabling the firewall through Norton with no positive results.

I was able to trace-route the addresses in your log.  Still likely to be a firewall issue, and possibly caused by your router.  So if you have a 3rd party firewall, as I'm assuming the Norton Anti-Virus is a suite or collection of utilities with a firewall, do you have Windows firewall disabled?

Press start/Windows key on your keyboard, in the dialog box type cmd, and then hit enter.  In the command prompt type 'tracert 171.64.65.80' but don't put in the ' symbols.  Try that for the addresses in the log, and alternatively you can do 'ping 171.64.65.80'

To make sure you are able to access the specific ports for those addresses you will have to use TELNET, but it needs to be enabled.  This link shows you how: HOW TO TELNET

EDIT: I was able to ping/trace-route all of them.

I now have Telnet enabled (it was not previously) and after entering the command into cmd, it completed on hop 24.

My laptop accesses the internet through my phone, my previous lap top had no issues running F@H using the same phone on the same setting.  Windows firewall in managed by Norton.

I've messing around with this some more trying to get it to work.  I uninstalled Norton, and installed Avast with the idea that the computer would be running the same AV software that my previous one was using, through the same phone I use to access the internet.  I also turned off windows firewall.  It still doesn't work.

Through the CMD prompt, when I ping 171.64.65.80:80, I cannot connect.  When I drop the :80 however, I connect with a ping without a problem.  Even with my firewall and AV software disabled, I am unable to connect to upload work units though?

I just have a hard time seeing the phone being the problem, because it hasn't been modified or updated in any way since I switched computers.  I can even still get the old computer to connect to the F@H servers just fine.  I have also noticed that this computer will not connect to the servers, regardless of where I connect to the internet.
