21st Century Transcendence
    #16901881 -

This is my diary to the world. I wrote it because I wanted to do some personal reflecting and it might resonate with some people here. I also get amused by the idea it might cause frustration to some of you - and the potential of receiving criticism that I may use to strengthen my resolves. It is pretty much a written fictional story to myself. You do not have to take it seriously. Enjoy.

I made an active endeavor to seek out the "truths" about 3 years ago. I did not know what I was going to find (if anything) or, if it had a name etc. It has been a bumpy ride. It feels as though this -past year- encompassed the most intense learning curve. I believe that my decision to post and debate frequently in the Shroomery forums fueled this learning curve a lot. Also, I began reading more about philosophy and religion to discover ancient knowledge that may help my cause.

In my own particular case; Over these past 3 years consisted of mushroom use typically once-a-month. Rarely twice or more on a single given month. I suspect that mushrooms contributed to my overall learning curve because during some meditations - I have came to "key" ideas - in which I used these key ideas when I became sober to analyze and improve upon.

Being that the last year is of importance, it must be stated that there were large hurdles to overcome as well. These forums and debating have helped me clear the hurdles. Keep in mind, that the hurdles are only overcome by oneself though. If you only debate without any personal reflection done later (when you are off the computer) then there may be no rewards.
To become transcendent is a difficult task. I am lucky that I had the personal time to set aside for this. It is not something I had been pursuing while also maintaining a 9-5 full time job the entire duration. I had mostly part-time jobs or intentional-unemployment because I wanted the increased personal time. I think that the increased personal time (if you know how to use it) helps a lot because whenever one is placed in the social world he may be faced with pressures that run against his determination. Therefore, I believe it is helpful if one mostly isolates himself while in the transition to transcendence - but not completely! I tried to hang around people that did not care about goofiness or strange discussions. Because while in transition, I always had questions and whoever I was with, I wanted to talk about the questions on my mind. I typically got these questioned sorted out by debating on the forums. When one question was answered within myself, then I moved onto the next. The transitional phase was confusing and had plenty of positive and negative periods of time. After one has achieved transcendence, then moving around in the social world becomes extremely easy.

I am not sure if consciousness has anymore levels to achieve after this point. If I had to guess, then I would say there may be. I am not sure if those higher levels can be attained in this "reality" or in an "after-life". In conclusion, transcending releases the flood gates to allow more knowledge to be let in. How one decides to use this knowledge is the next mystery in human evolution.

I'm going to transcend your post by not reading it. :levitate:

Or, did my post transcend you, because you chose not to read it?

I actually did read it. I wouldn't say I am transcending anything by doing similar things to you, but I would instead use the term "self- realization" Markos uses a lot.

Is "self-realization" realizing "yourself" is an oxymoron?

Why does psychology or physics exist then?

Using "self-realization" I believe, is poor prescriptive grammar. There is not really a "self" to begin with, so why call it that. I chose to refrain from its use in this situation. If you do not like using words with strong religious connotations, then I believe there are better words to chose than the aforementioned. I particularly like using religious words though. Religion certainly is a tool for the Gods. :strokebeard2:

Then noone transcends anything really.

Who's self is it, who is your?

I have my own self and we have shared environments. I think my environment is just as much a part of my self as my personal biology is.

It depends on what you mean by what "self" is. I just think it is kind of misleading. You may prove me wrong. For the time being, I think "self-realization" should be changed to "self-disintegration". Where upon the definition would include something like "the process of taking apart the meanings of self, putting them back together, coming to new conclusions...repeat as necessary".
