Dunno about this app, I use it for the fan curve but a lot of things just don't seem to work at least w/ the games I play... won't cap my frame rates and the OSD doesn't work either... haven't looked into solutions yet though, maybe some features don't play well w/ latest beta drivers....

OSD has issues in some games especially if using FXAA injectors.
You can get around that in most by going in the OSD server settings and clicking on the wrench icon and checking 'Enable Compatibility with modified Direct3D libraries'.
That should fix it for most games. I know mine wasn't showing in Skyrim with the latest drivers until I did that.
Also make sure you set a key to toggle it on/off, it may just be disabled

The frame rate cap isn't really set in stone, it just tries to push your card or downclock if needed to stay at that frame rate, but there's tons of variables.
I would just turn frame rate target off and use Adaptive Vertical Sync or something

Lol, no I have tidle set up as my toggle key and can see it toggle between On and Off in the OSD server menu when I press it... just isn't working w/ Diablo 3, for example, even w/ aforementioned solutions.. Had no real intent of using its frame rate cap, just get a tiny bit of stutter in D3 now and again and have tried a variety of things to get rid of it... plays at like 145fps @ 1440p w/o vsync but has ridiculous screen tear, w/ vsync (adaptive or otherwise) it holds 60fps 99% of the time but occasionally drops to like 58fps for a second in which there's a slight stutter. so was trying to use Precision to limit it to 59 or something and just turn off vsync all together and see how that looked....  Is somewhat ridiculous as every other seemingly more demanding game I play runs totally flawlessly

Best thing that is free is uTorrent.

Another good one but its not free is AVG PC tune up,  it does allot of minor things just like it sounds but not necessary.

Game booster is good if you don't have allot of ram.

and I don't even have a virus scan right now, I was tired of having to enter my email or re installing every 30 days.

Also to lazy to pirate Avast again but that one worked perfect.

-Winamp
-VLC
-Winrar
-Audacity
-DVD Decryptor
-Beer smith

aannndddd...
-Soulseek.  I don't use it as often as I used too, but Soulseek has been the most stable and satisfying P2P programs I've used.  Plus it's gold for finding obscure artists/songs (and for some reason has an affinity for 70's funk).

Hmmm lets see, ones I'm missing here..

Audacity (working with audio)

SUPER  (turn any media file into any other)

Spybot - Search & Destroy (like it says!)

Malwarebytes - Anti Malware (like it says!)

In no particular order:

uTorrent - For torrents

CCleaner - Registry cleaner

Malwarebytes - Anti-malware

Daum PotPlayer - Universal media player similar to VLC, but makes VLC its bitch.  The mouse shortcuts alone are worth it.

Winamp, always been my favorite music player.

Tor Browser - Browse the internet through Tor proxy network

Maxthon3 - Awesome browser, I've been really digging it and using it as my primary for a few weeks now.

Waterfox/PaleMoon + AdBlock+/BetterPrivacy/NoScript/Collusion/DownloadHelper/Flagfox/Ghostery/HTTPS-Everywhere - x64 versions of Firefox plus all the necessary addons for privacy and safety.  You also gotta download the x64 versions of Flash and Java just FYI but it's worthwhile.

Microsoft Security Essentials - Lightweight, effective, free virus protection.

Open Office - Open source version of Office

Peerblock - Safer torrent downloading, blocks suspicious connections

Win Hot Key - Make keyboard shortcuts that Windows recognizes universally.

7zip - Zip program that replaces WinZip/WinRAR, though it's incapable of creating a WinRAR archive since their compression scheme is proprietary.  Only downside, but minor since it can create .7z archives, which compress better anyway.

Greenfish Icon Editor Pro - Create new icons and save them as .ico files up to 256x256.  Great if you download media and want to customize the folder icons with logos or covers.

GIMP, for those without Photoshop

Pidgin + Off The Record encryption plugin - Combines instant messaging services with addon capability like Firefox.  Off the Record is an addon that lets you have encrypted conversations.

RocketDock  - Adds a dock similar to Macs.

PS, you're welcome on the Maxthon recommend, OP.  Now you just gotta ditch that VLC
