Dinosaurs Roamed The Earth for 160 Million Years - Man made religion a few thousand years ago

The universe is 13.7 billion years old (give or take 100 million years)
The earth and our solar system is 4.5 billion years old

Modern humans (after evolving from a common ancestor with the ape 7 million years ago) finally appeared in modern form 200 to 400 thousand years ago.

But we didn't really form civilizations until 15,000 years ago.

Basically we've only been around for a few thousand years.

Dinosaurs got millions and millions of years. Over 160 million to be precise.

Doesn't this lessen religious thinkers and their idea that we are God's favorite creation that personally maintains an invisible relationship with us and invisibly is friends with us?

Why would he wait 13.7 billion years to make us? Do you have any idea how long that is? (If you reading this you have probably lived as an adult for less than a decade.) And since we arrived on the scene 400,000 years ago how come he waited until just a few thousand years ago to show up (Islam/Christianity/Judaism)?

Really doesn't add up. Before deciding to go genocidal on dinosaurs they roamed His earth for 100s of millions of years....Us a couple thousand. Suspicious?

We've been around a lot longer than you think.

No one knows just how old the universe REALLY is... for all we know, it could of been completely destroyed, remade and all that jazz so many times over, over a period of time that isn't even tangible. Billions, trillions of years? Nah... far beyond that.

Religions is hardly even worth mentioning. Most of them completely contradict science, and I have to agree with what is real in front of me over some dumb book a retard wrote a few hundred years ago.

humans have such egos which is why they think they are gods favorite, that we are the only creature with souls, etc... its hilarious. I try and fight my ego, hell, I fight with myself more than anyone else in this world.

I agree that humans have big egos.  But do you realize that religion is not the sole evidence of this? 

I feel that a lot of the faith humans have in science is misplaced...they think that science can answer some of the biggest questions of the Universe, and I don't think any manmade thinking system can do that.

If you wanna read up on some cool shit. look up ancient aliens or something. or ponder this for a minute. if the earth has been around for millions upon billions of years and then it would not be a crazy idea for their to have been previous civilizations that have inhabited the earth. We are the fifth to be exact.  The 3rd and 4th develop to the point of group think but died out before they developed individual thought such as ourselves. Since not alot of things could withstand millions of decay there wouldnt be any evidence besides the secret knowledge that is passed down that the masses have no idea about but i do not want to get started on that. have nice day

No, it's not always cold hard facts.  That is what society tells us science is, but that is not the truth.  A lot of science is mere speculation, educated guesses if you will.

Do you really think that science can concretely and accurately measure enormous things, such as the age of the universe, or the distance of a planet that "experts" claim lies 1,000,000,000 light years away with no room for error?

Science is a method for disproving hypotheses, and the information it generates is called the literature.

If you use scientific literature exclusively to define your existence, you definitely run the risk of turning into a gigantic douche. In fact, I would say it's inevitable. :gameover:

Sometimes I wonder why Christians who hold a literal view of the Bible don't also still believe in a geocentric universe.

I tend to think that Genesis was describing the big bang and, subsequently, evolution. I'm not really sure if I'd call myself Christian or not...I try to hold multiple theistic viewpoints in harmony with each other partly because they guide one on a good path in life and partly because their texts do seem to illustrate scientific findings when not taken literally.

I think it's very possible that God could have been an alien of some sort who genetically modified apes. This can be explained by the explosive increases of brainpower between apes and ourselves during a relatively brief period.

I tend to believe that much of science censors or overlooks certain things that don't agree with it's established paradigms. This is because I have had legitimate paranormal experiences occur in my own life and I find it very hard to believe that they have NEVER been reproduced in controlled or laboratory settings.
