Because the truth is that by owning a gun you have much bigger chance to be shot so it reduces your security. Such statements just manipulate with peoples fears.

let me break it down for you.

you say that people use guns to ensure security, zeronio said that by owning a gun "you have much bigger chance to be shot so it reduces your security"

i proposed a hypothetical situation:

what if a black man was walking down wall street with a gun, would he be more or less safe? the answer? a cop would shoot him dead on sight. no questions asked.

Actually that has been shown time and time again to be false.

we don't seem to agree on gun control issues. cross that one out.

i said that we all think that laws against victimless crimes are wrong. i guess that's not really true. some of us think that owning a handgun or assault rifle should be a crime.

Yes, and many of us think stupidity should be a crime. Sadly, it's not and it appears to be encouraged more each day.

How can that be thoughtfully responded to? He gave it the response it deserved.

Here's why.....
1. Any person, black or otherwise, would face the same response.
2. In many states you can legally walk around with a gun.
3. "cop suicide" would be a cop killing himself. Killing a man with a gun is not suicide.

Face it, It was a statement implying ALL cops are racist and would kill only a black man with a gun.

no, it did not imply anything of the sort, it was ment to accentuate characteristics of american gun culture.

suicide by cop....never heard of it?

all im saying is that logically, having a gun does not make you safer, that idea only works in idealist theory.

I'll accept that's what you meant but it's not how it came off.

Quote:

suicide by cop....never heard of it?

I've heard of it. If that's what you meant then that's what you should have said.
Suicide by cop is not the same as cop suicide.

Quote:

Actually studies and crime reports have repeatedly shown that the states with the most liberal gun laws have the lowest crime rate and vise-versa.

Not only that but in states that had restrictive carry laws, when the laws were made less restrictive, the gun crime rate makes sharp drops. Florida is a perfect example of this.

Now if you want to say people shouldn't be allowed to carry simply because you don't think they should.... at least that is accurate.

To say guns make you less safe is false.

that's exactly what you implied or you wouldn't of used a black guy as an example.

Quote:

This is in no way even close to the American gun culture.

Quote:

suicide by cop....never heard of it?

We've all heard of it but are still bewildered as to why you thought it had anything to do with the discussion.

Quote:

Just saying it doesn't make it so, you've given absolutly no evidence or examples that would back that claim up.

keep trying.

-its quite obvious if you compare american crime statistics to that of any other developed nation, (and I know y'all aint gonna bust out some marxian reasons).

Actually you'll find the percentage of gun ownership rarely equates to the gun crime rate.

There are countries with higher ownership rates and less crime.

There are countries with less gun ownership and more gun crime.
