I guess you like having dangerous, poisonous, and addictive drugs being prescribed to you because, "Hey,they were just trying to make money."

If that was a problem then an attempt at a amendment could be made.

--------------------
You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for that my dear friend is the beginning of the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it. ~ Adrian Rogers

I'm still waiting for an explanation of how gun manufactures aren't "decent people"?

The ak-47 uses a 7.62mmNATO (.308 caliber) round while the M16, -a2, and m4 all use the 5.56mm NATO (.223 caliber). The Ak-47's are less accurate, due to the barrel twists. All military rounds are fully jacketed and thus considered "armor penetratind".

The AK-47 uses a 7.62x39 a russian variant of the nato round, the dragunov uses a 7.62x54 russian variant where the 7.62x52 is the NATO round also known as the .308 winchester. I have fired and currently own civilian versions of these rifles and the accuracy lies in the shooter. the AR-15 has almost no recoil (my personal viewpoint) the AK a great deal more.

The russians liked to make things non-standard because they didnt want their stuff used by the enemy. Bullets to Trains, the tracks are wider so that invading armys couldnt use their trains on russian tracks for supply lines.

a gun gives me the ability to do more than throw rocks at someone invading my home, it allows me the chance to resist oppression from the government if it ever occurs and in instances of civil unrest, it affords me the ability to defend the lives of my family. I own guns but I dont feel free because half of my money goes to my failing government.

My mother taught me to be responsible and to respect other people as well as their lives, she also taught me the responsibility of owning a firearm as well as how to shoot. I qualify expert. My mother almost shot my father, she had good reason to fear for here life so it may be possible my wife could shoot me, it is unlikely. ironicly my grandmother shot her husband as well.

High crime rates are not related to gun control. It's possible to have guns in my country too, but the crime rate is much lower then in the USA. I don't know anyone who has been threatened or robbed and I don't know anyone who has a gun for personal protection.

high crime rate amounts to a lack of respect and discipline, lack of concern for others, a lack of self control. I've had a few burgalaries and known many victims of. I have been present during and been the victim of armed robberies, only 1 was with a gun.
I have driven a Taxi, been a reposession agent, a courier, a floor manager (bouncer) and a skip tracer. I've never had more than a black eye and a good scare and had only drawn my pistol once to defend the life of a passenger in my cab and there were actualy cops on the scene when it occured!

I carry a pistol for self defense because my prior occupations warranted it. I avoided carrying it as often as I could because people are intimidated by them and I'm not about 'instilling terror' into people that are already having a bad day.

Guns give only a feeling of protection...

i think that it's a little more substantial than just a "feeling".

...since it's most likely that you'll be killed with your own gun by someone who is close to you.

untrue. on what do you base that claim?

Monoamine,

I haven't read all of the posts so if I am repeating something, sorry.

Your state should have a Hunters Permit that has to be obtained by before a liscense can be acquired. In my state it is refered to as a Hunters education card. Those born before '71 don't have to have one. However, allot of people still can benefit from the classes even if they have been hunting all thier lives. The classes are around 30 hours or so. You will learn all the basic firearms lessons needed. Then go to a shooting range for some practice. It's one thing to read about something but to really understand it experience must be applied.

For a location on where to take the classes for obtaining a Hunting Permit, look up the Wildlife/Ranger head office. They should be able to give you a listing.

Guns are an insurance policy for the common people. It supposed to show the greatness of democracy by trusting the common people to own a firearm. It also keeps the government in check incase some crazy man gets to power and rules like a tyrant.
