Are shroomery servers going down?

this happened to me for hours last week, where I was getting the message that DNS couldn't locate the shroomery. Happened today, too, like it didn't exist.  WTF????  :confused:

yeah, just got on now actually. Amazing, got that same crap, "d.n.s. error"

usually means my ethernet isn't connected, that I can't ping any web servers, or rarely that my i.s.p. shut down my connection. Got it for like an hour, just got back on now. Don't think shroomery servers were set up to handle massive 4th of July web traffic. Guessing millions of people today decided to make '4th of July' a little bit more special, with some shrooms, and a ton of people hit the web site all at once.

I'm more concerned about the last time this happened, 8~10 days ago no shroomery access for like 6 hours.

yes the U.S. government fucks with encryption connected web sites :lol:, they hack in, past the routers that need privileged user authentication, that are responsible for all the load balancing. The whole thing goes down, LMAO, and each server has to be rebooted and re configured. And then to top it off, the virtual front end configuration settings have to be re checked.

Or maybe they hit the servers with a virus that replicates processes and does a denial of service attack. :lol:

This goes right up there in the conspiracy theory threads in, conspiracy sub forum. It's great, as easy as it is to hack an encrypted connected server, maybe we should all try and fake a v.p.n. connection into the F.B.I.'s data base. Just hack right in there. And also, the government engineered 9-11, with explosives planted within the building :shrug:

lol im not preaching no government DOS attacks.  Im just wondering if anyone else is having or have had similar problems recently, and why.

they might have been updating something. Or upgrading the OS the web servers run on perhaps, it can cause tons of connection issues. Most likely, being it's 4th of July, it's a web traffic congestion issue. After all, the shroomery servers, as much financial support as they get from the companies they post ads of that are sponsors, I doubt this site was ever really designed for a million hits. It's probably been migrated or upgraded some other way to support more users, but on days like 4th of July it's probably amazing you can access the server at all.

I definitely have. That d.n.s. issue is the first thing any box that leases a connection tells you if you can't connect. Basically, you ping, check configuration, and if that doesn't work, it could be a million number of problems. Number 3 reasons a connection goes bad

1) the ethernet was unplugged

2) the connection was interrupted

3) there is a configuration error with the i.p. addressing, that needs to be renewed, hence the need for release, renew, netsh winsock reset, dhconfig reset, etc.


the d.n.s. error is for admins, it's to show, "hey, maybe you configured the entire domain wrong, go fucking re set the entire i.p. pool!"

It's not like a specific error message, it's just a fancy way of saying you have no connection. It could be a specific error message, but no computer checks a lost connection to specific detail over the OSI the way your OS will tell you a file is corrupted very specifically when you have a boot problem or memory error or system crash. Make sense?

Last week was my fault, but tonight it was a network error that was out of our control. Shouldn't be a recurring problem though, hopefully. :smile:
