Attempt to re-attach pins that were knocked off

Sorry for the poor picture.I scratched the mycelium a bit where I intend the pins to reattach. I attached them with sewing pins. I'll update when/if I see growth.

I feel your pain yo. My first pins were likely from a contaminated substrate, so I had to use all the force of logic and will in my being to bury it outside. Sometimes it's just hard to let go.

Well I keep the FC in an area that I wouldn't consider even close to clean. Mold spores galore, bugs, etc. ThE FC has holes with no polyfill. I figure if it's not contamed already, it won't.... I could be wrong, I'll let you guys know.

I'm just saying: Why the hell did you start a whole new thread for an "experiment" that you were talking about in another page 1 thread? There's even a small part of me that thinks that it may work. But WHY?
That's like giving birth to a still-born and then carrying it around with the cord still attached because you think it'll revive it. WTF?

On a more serious note, this would never work.

That mushroom would eventually rot and that would greatly increase the risk of bacterial contamination..  And stuff.

Well hey even if it fails at least he takes one for the team as far as finding out and logging it with photos. As long as something is learned yah know? Plus I know the feeling, my first pins had to be thrown out this week, sucked bawlz.

But, why risk contaminating the whole cake just to get 1/2" of growth on a few fruits?

I know you hear me & you're like "why this bitch be hatin'?". Well, I'm not trying to tear it down before you build it up, but you're most likely just gonna end up with contams.

Decent point. I just want to try for science sake. My ferret had already touched the cake anyhow.  I rinsed the pins well.... If they look like they are dying I will remove them.

What's going to happen is that mushroom will start to rot.  I guarantee it...  I'm not trying to rain on your parade, I'm just telling you it won't work and recommended getting rid of that pin before it rots and contaminates the rest of your cake.

And just because RR successfully transplanted a pin doesn't really give me assurance that it's going to work for you.  I suspect RR went about it totally different than you did.  :mypleasure:

And even if it did work, you'd risk reviving an inevitable abort for your entire cake?  Think about it...  :rolleyes:
