Yeah, the betel nut girls are something else. Everything is still blowing my mind out here. I just got a scooter the other day and have been trying to stay alive on the roads:eek:

Like I said, it almost feels too overwhelming to learn Mandarin:sad:

I'm definitely feeling like I will end up trying to learn spanish after a year in Taiwan. I guess it all depends if i get this teaching job right down the street from my apartment and also how much I enjoy teaching....

I actually am living in downtown Hsinchu City! Hopefully I can at least pick up a foreign girlfriend to keep me company over the next year.

Those Taiwan girls are really pretty nice to know.  did you buy any food off the street carts?  they got chicken and stuff, pork, on sticks on carts. 

I liked Okinawa better though, same basic climate, culture, except they speak japanese.

besides english, about 40% fluency in German right now, took latin in school, and because of that I have no problem getting around countries that are romance language based, but wouldn't say I speak any of them. I can talk music pretty well.

It's appealing to me.
I've got Russian ancestry, and my phenotype seems to come from that line.
I want to learn a lot of languages though.
German, Cantonese, Arabic, Hindi.
But it'd be nice to improve my current ones too.

English. Fluent as a motherfucker.
Basic Spanish.
Learning Japanese.

As I've gotta go to Japan with the woman eventually to meet the 'rents and I don't want to be one of those douchebags that doesn't even attempt to speak the native tongue.
I can't hold a half-assed conversation yet, but I can at least spit out a few dozen common phrases or questions and at least order most food in japanese

Had decent French from six years of school but mostly forgot it from no practice. If I read over things I'd get the knowledge back fresh. Same with Irish.

Had okay Irish but even more has been forgotten.

Know a bit of German now and slowly learning.

I used to study Russian at school and then switched to Spanish. I sucked at both, not because I have problems with new languages but I found it pretty boring and thought its useless (I was right).

I speak English fluently and I can speak some Spanish and some C++ though it's been a looooong time since I've used it.  But it's cool because it still helps to interpret coding in other languages to a large degree so it's helpful.
