Bluing Gymnopilus sp. (purpuratus, dilepis or luteofolius?) Sydney, Australia.
    #16389235 -

Hey shroomerites,

Found these today growing in woodchips. I know they're a Gym but was unsure on exact species. I think it's either G. luteofolius or G. purpuratus. I was leaning toward luteofolius but now im not sure. There is obvious bruising on one of the smaller caps which was there before i picked it. The stypes on a couple of the others have also bruised very slightly blue after handling. A couple dont show any bluing but im sure theyre the same species. Has a reddish cap when young, turning orangey/yellow on older specimens. Bright yellow gills on young ones, orange on older. Gills bruised a dark brown. Purplish/red stype. Rusty brown spore print.

Pictures in the wild:

Back home:

You can see pretty clearly the bruising on the right cap.

Some more bruising on stems:

Gills:

So what do you reckon I've got here?
Cheers :rasta:

I've havent been able to get out hunting for that last month+. Maybe i'll get a chance this week. i hope so!

Those look awfully like what i find over here in WA. I know the actual i.d. of gyms is way open for debate... i only use the local fungi reports http://www.fungiperth.org.au/ as a vague authority
