thats a good idea, offer up the arm then snap the neck

i think this is a commonly taught military method.

i know some soldeirs are taught this to defend unarmed against an attack dog.

just make sure not to get bit in the femeral(?) artery between your bones in your forarm.

so you have to offer the arm at the right angle.

after that youre supposed to either choke it out, or break its neck.

striking it really wont do much.

jamming your hand down the throat is another thing that is supposed to work if they are clamped onto your hand.

That may be the case, but I personally would go for an attack that doesn't put my arm or hand in its mouth to start the fight. I'm sure I would try to work this out with two hands before it came to that.

A strike with a stick will work if anyone's doubting. My dad used to always carry some sort of walking stick when he'd walk past our neighbor's house to take our dogs to a pond or to go solo. These neighbors had a really mean red nose that they didn't offer much affection to, and so it stayed outside bullying the family's other 3 dogs which were just huskies, and that's probably the extent of its training-just being around weaker dogs (actually heard it killing one one night and I wanted to go kill that thing because the neighbors weren't intervening).
Anyway, one day it was off its leash and saw my dad walking past (not on its property but close enough that it didn't know the difference) and started charging full speed from 15 to 20 yards. He lunged and my dad knocked that fucker onto a new level while it was in the air. It shook its head and snorted as it bitched out and ran away. This was a 60-65 pound mean red nose pit. Head strikes with a sturdy stick will work if you swing it with intent instead of acting like a pushy.

Don't be a pushy. Stand your ground and die like a man if you have to, but are you gonna let a dog kill you, people?

I love you, pa.

i thought it was pretty common knowledge that if you are being charged by a pitbull you drop to your knees and present him your ass to stop him from attacking you....its better to let him fuck  you than to let him kill you.  (if its a female then maybe try one of the other macho suggestions this thread has provided. and good luck)

Just throw your shoe at it.

--------------------
God takes those closest to us, because it makes him feel better about himself. He is a very vengeful God. He's all pissed off about something we did thousands of years ago. He just can't get over it, so he doesn't care who he takes. Children, puppies, it don't matter to him, so long as it makes us sad.

Why does God give us anything?

Look at it this way: if you want to make a baby cry, first you give it a lollipop. Then you take it away. If you never give it a lollipop to begin with, it would have nothin' to cry about. That's like God, who gives us life and love and help just so that he can tear it all away and make us cry, so he can drink the sweet milk of our tears. You see, it's our tears, Stan, that give God his great power.

that's why a lot of lower income neighborhoods are dangerous; the dogs. when i did civil/survey cad work (i did it for 11 years) when i would go out in the field to photograph drainage conditions in lower income areas for municipal jobs i'd usually go with an armed escort because of that. these fucking maniacs down there get pits/rots, make them mean as shit and just turn them loose. when i lived in an arts district downtown for three years, there was a pack of dogs that were responsible for killing pets and even some longhorn cattle that were in a yard outside a famous dallas landmark that was across the trinity.

Not at all. However the very notion of snapping a pitbull's neck is ridiculous. Ergo, internet tough guy.

I lived in a hood that had the ton of strays. The best thing to have is pepper spray, they wont come anywhere near you once you spray at it; it creates a 30 second barrier between you and them they wont even think of crossing.

its more about technique than strength.

its defenitely do-able.

though being strong helps...

you really dont have any other legitamite options unarmed than the choke or neckbreak anyways if the dog is out to kill.

so if you dont do it youre probably dead.

Hilarious thread

Honestly, if a dog was attacking me, I would kick the shit out of it's face/head/neck.  If it got me to the ground, I'd protect my neck and pull out the cheap shots such as eye-gouging and choking.

..if I had some sort of weapon, I wouldn't even sweat the situation.

perhaps, but its still something you CAN do or learn to do.

if you kick the dog he'll probably bite your leg LOL

in the groin or something LOL.

kicking an attack dog isnt going to work unless youre really lucky, theyre trained to expect kicks.

I will say with all honestly that if a pitbull attacked me, I'd probably wind up just screaming and flailing my arms around trying to get the animal off me. I doubt I would have the coordination to attempt anything that would require tact. Maybe I will try to gouge its eyes out. Maybe I will try biting it myself. I have noodly, girlie arms. No neck snappin here.

If you try gouge the eyes it will bite your hands.

protect the face/eyes is a very strong instinct in any animal.

biting it wont do anything and youre liable to get a face full of teeth

True dat.

I suppose my only other recourse than is to bore it to death by teaching it the Penrose-Hawking singularity theorems.

Everyone thinks dogs are made of steel or something.

Can't snap it's neck? Dogs have like the weakest joints in the world, I'll snap two legs and it won't be able to chase me anymore.

No one is being an internet tough guy. The premise is you are getting killed by a dog. I'm glad some of you would bend over for it no problem, me on the other hand, I might try to poke an eye out or snap some bones before it puts me down. :crankey:

all im saying is dogs know damn well how to fight, and humans can figure out more than that. Wrapping your bare hands around an attacking pit's neck and trying to break it sounds like a bit of a last resort. At least for a mildly intelligent human with some physical ability.

I wouldn't be bending over out of choice. I am not a big person and a pitbull probably weighs half as much as I do. A stiff breeze is enough to knock me over. I could only imagine what an animal that was bred originally to bait bulls would do.

I am just not being dellusional.
