Who would win in a fight, Ninja or Samurai?

I saw a post about ninjas and samurais in spirituality/philosophy forums, and it made me post this in here :crazy2:

Both are somewhat respectable positions.
Ninjas are more like mercenaries, Samurai are more like soldiers/warriors.
Both have a code of honor, just w/ some different views.
Both practice the sword.
Both could kick any of our asses.
Ninjas fight for themselves (money), Samurai fight for a buncha things like a soldier.

So say a ninja is hired to kill a samurai's family while he is fighting in an unjust war.  The samurai comes back from the war and finds his family dead, hunts down the ninja and they end up fighting face to face in the woods somewhere or something.  Samurai is trained to fight face to face, but Ninja is trained to be misleading with movements and actions.

I vote Ninja, young grasshopper.  Ultimately i think the Ninja's ability to psyche the mind would be the victorious. :rolleyes:

samurai, I think their both equal but samurai would win because they have much much better armor.

I disagree. The ninja is a killer trained to kill samurai (and other things). The samurai is trained to kill other samurai and does not usually fight ninja. So the ninja has the advantage.

yea but not all ninjas were "bad" and not all samurai's were "good". a bad samurai would fight in an unjust war because he was told to (like Iraq) a good one would say no. a bad ninja would steal left and right for bad people, a good ninja would steal and kill for good causes like robin hood.

The samuri has better armor, but the ninja has more speed and can most likely dodge most blows the samuri throws

The rouge element of the ninja is kind of facinating.  I'm changing my vote to ninja.  I like the whole Robin Hood thing.

As much as I like the ninja, and would cheer him/her on in the fight. I think the samurai would win. One is trained in discreet, efficent killing, and one is trained for battle and combat. One served as a spy, while the other as a mercenary. I think a flat out duel is where the samurai would excel.

All I know about samurai I learned from "Abarenbo Shogun" and "The Last Samurai." Samurai are frigging crazy. But don't you know? Ninja's flip out and chop people's heads off ALL THE TIME!

Didn't you watch Ninja Turtles as a kid? What's wrong with those of you who voted samurai? Where do your loyalties lie?

I think it would matter on what the battle was like. If, as you said, they met face to face, my money is on the samurai. Samurai are trained to fight face to face all the time, while ninjas were often stealth asassins. The ninja relies on the element of suprise, so if he were to sneak up on said samurai, senior samurai would say bye bye.

Ninjas can kill anyone they want! Ninjas cut off heads ALL the time and don't even think twice about it. These guys are so crazy and awesome that they flip out ALL the time. I heard that there was this ninja who was eating at a diner. And when some dude dropped a spoon the ninja killed the whole town. My friend Mark said that he saw a ninja totally uppercut some kid just because the kid opened a window.

Seppuku is the ancient art of killing yourself if you get super pissed and can?t find anybody else to kill. Ninjas use all sorts of crap to kill themselves?guns, ropes, knives, lasers, spears, etc.?and don?t even think twice about it. These guys would kill themselves for just about any reason and often for no reason at all: that?s why we there are so few ninjas today.



But if you want to commit Seppuku and you?re like me, you don?t have access to stuff like lasers. But there?s hope. I tried to kill myself by swallowing a frisbee a couple of times?and believe me, it?s pretty cool. The only catch is you have to be really super pissed to do it.



Step 1 Get a frisbee from the store or friend.

Step 2 Clean the Frisbee.

Step 3 Make sure your parents aren?t around

Step 4 Put something slippery on it, like butter or cream.

Step 5 Get really super pissed.

Step 6 Fold the Frisbee hard (this is crucial)

Step 7 Keep folded and insert Frisbee into mouth hard.

Step 8 Push hard until you can?t see it.

Step 9 Wait.

Step 10 Die.

lol once i was driving through a random deasert with a freinds
and we tuned the radio to some collage radio station and for an hour there was a guy giving the blow by blow of the battle between a ninja and a samurai
it was some of the funnyest shit i have ever heard "who will win, the  ninja with his craftyness and sly confidence? or the samurai with his boundless honor?"

i never got to hear who won
the ninja was winning when we went out of range of the radio stations :shrug:

yea but as mentioned ninjas have completely different techniques than a samurai and vice versa. of course a samurai would have a ninja face to face sword to sword alone, but you have to remember that a ninja can do crazy shit like jump up trees and throw stars, amongst other shit. they know how to use a broad range of stuff around them, like different weapons and their surroundings.

the samurai would totally fuck the ninja up if his eyes stayed on the ninja, but ninjas are crafty folk. he'd come up with something and find a way to dissapear for a little bit to fuck with the samurai, and then he'd get him through wit.

I have played out this scenario several times in soul calibur 2, with me as Taki (ninja) vs my roomate as Mitsirugi (samurai).

The ninjas will always win. Ninjas are lightning quick, and as cited from real ultimate power, they can fly and time travel and shit. Samurais cant do that
