Canada is finally getting rid of the penny

Its in the 2012 Canadian budget published today.

Its about time. Worthless coin that costs 1.6 cents to produce.

It was originally an NDP idea, but apparently the conservative gvmt listened

The Government will introduce legislation to modernize Canada’s
currency set by eliminating the penny from Canada’s coinage system.
The Government will no longer distribute pennies as of Fall 2012.
However, the penny will retain its value indefinitely and can continue to
be used in payments. The penny has weak purchasing power and costs
the Government 1.6 cents to produce. Other countries, such as New
Zealand, Australia, the Netherlands, Norway, Finland and Sweden,
have made smooth transitions to a penny-free economy. The
Government expects that businesses will apply rounding for cash
transactions in a fair and transparent manner. Canadians will be able
to redeem pennies for full value. The Government will work in
collaboration with institutions and charitable organizations that may

They won't officially open brothels. And they won't pay their taxes either.

Its just legal to have a place where prostitutes can bring there clients to a familiar place.

Obviously these places will have a few big guys to protect the whores (illegally). But the court has deemed that situation to be better than letting the prostitutes go in random hotels and become victim to a sexual predator.

Basically the government realize that prostitution cannot be stop by law enforcement, so they decided to protect prostitutes from being killed because of the career path they chose
