How is it that the birthplace of our species is still so fucked up?

It is 2011, and 90% of Africa is just deplorable.  Almost an entire continent of human suffering.  Why can't they just stop killing eachother, start wearing condoms, and pull it together?

Why can't they just stop killing eachother, start wearing condoms, and pull it together?

do you think they were always that way??? it was only when the english and other European nations came in and created state societies and told the different tribes that they are all completely different race's of people even though many of them had strong kinship ties. then they decided it would be best to leave and what do ya know... they all turned on each other. also they told many countries to only grow one type of crop to sell and when global prices went down everybody starved.

if we had just left them alone none of this would have happened. that's why i hate all that world vision bullshit. most of their supplies end up in the hands of corrupt dictators anyway or simply cause more problems than they solve. their not just a bunch of stupid blacks that can't get their shit together like those horrible ad's make people think. it's the wars that modern civilization created that's keeping Africa down.

if i were you i wouldn't come looking for answers here at the shroomery. try and get your hands on a book called nuer dilemma's it's a great read and will fill you in on the problems of Africa and African tribes from the ground up.

i think you may have taken that statement the wrong way. war would have been a much different endevour before colonial rule and the introduction of fire arms.

do you think they were always that way??? it was only when the english and other European nations came in and created state societies and told the different tribes that they are all completely different race's of people even though many of them had strong kinship ties. then they decided it would be best to leave and what do ya know... they all turned on each other. also they told many countries to only grow one type of crop to sell and when global prices went down everybody starved.

Actually from what I've gathered they were waring and making slaves of each other long before whitey came.  Not that whitey helped at all.

true, but at least then there was a better balance in power between tribes. colonial rulers would prop up one tribe in a particular area and then when they left they'd go at it like two cat's in a blender.
