what you may be seeing is a contam consuming the mycelium.

Usually established mycelium have a good "immune system" against contam's.The size of the contam isn't as important as the color or the odor, lots of times you may get yellow mycelium - but this is mainly due to to much water in the substrate. - Hope this helps......
