Best nutrients for BRF cakes
    #15086542 -

Hey guys i am just starting a new thread to discuss the optimal nutrition content for making the best brf jars possible.

When i first started doing this i ordered six pre-sterilized jars from caligrowkits.com, they worked fantastic!

After learning more about mushrooms, i decided i would save money and make my own jars. I used the usual verm/brf mixture. The jars worked fine but they did not work as well as the jars i got from cgk.com, after seeing this i realized that the contents inside the jars actually do make a difference.

caligrowkits.com jar

my jar

you can see that the mycelium from caligrowkits is alot fudgier and all around thicker/healthier looking. It looks like marshmallow fluff!
My home made jars look a little less happy, and a little greyish in comparison (it's still healthy mycelium however)

These are the special ingredients listed by caligrowkits

I am not sure how much of each ingredient they use and i will be contacting them to see if they will share with me their secret mixture. (i feel like the plankton from spongebob)

So to make a long story short, the stuff inside the jars matter. And i want to do what cgk has done with their jars. I am even willing to take it a step further and add even more ingredients (gypsum?) please post any ideas you may have to make the BEST JARS IN THE WORLD!!

Hmm try a ground up multivitamin, also fungus like simple sugars, think glucose, it takes more energy and enzymes to break down other materials, hence why wood lovers grow so slowly.

I have looked up the ingredients and bee pollen is supposedly the most nutrient rich substance you can get, it contains every vitamin and mineral known to man, as well as substances that scientists have not identified yet. It also contains high levels of proteins and antioxidants, it is praised in the health industry. You can also take it as a supplement

So i ordered a bag of pee pollen this morning and
after about an hour of searching for the best price (including ebay) i found that this website offers the best price, as long as you type in WIR500 for $5 off.

The next thing im going to order is worm castings!

lol well it depends on what you are trying to do with them , really if your just doing cakes you already have the best method using organic fresh ground brown rice flower and verm IMO.Gypsum helps with your nitrogen level and moisture it also helps with a natural ph but most p use it when you are using  WBS jars/ I have switched to Wbs because when making casings or mono tubes it takes way less to mix evenly thru the substrate.

A lot of people has said that bee pollen doesn't do anything for their grows. And that it also contains contaminates.

Hey when RR said there is no difference , then there is no difference.

Pollen is collected from the bees by having them pass through a hardware cloth at the entrance to the hive.  The pollen is scraped off their legs and drops into a tray below where it's collected.  Many beekeepers collect this pollen and then feed it back to the bees during the winter.  Others sell it on the market, and then feed sugar water to the bees in the off season.  The bees use it to feed the young and queen.  It isn't used in honey making.  They collect and use nectar for that.

My point was a few years ago when bee pollen was all the rage, I tried it on several side by side tests.  There was no increase in growth, rate of colonization, or health of the mycelium vs no pollen.  Since that time, I've started raising bees and studying their habits and needs.  It's universally accepted among beekeepers that harvesting the pollen for sale is hard on the colonies.  Whether that's the main cause for collapse disorder or not is debatable.  My wife and I live in a very remote mountain cabin in an area with no commercial agriculture, but millions of acres of wildflowers all over the mountains, and too far north and too high an elevation for the Africanized bees to survive.  We want to do our part to try to save the bees.  Sorry if I came across as preaching.
RR

I'm not saying that their is a difference but your statement in general is complete BS. Plus if he is passionate about the future of bees then of course he would say that.

False! Yes MS is a crap shoot, and you cant get accurate comparison results. That doesn't mean that additives and discussing them means nothing!

I'm with koolaid, this thread means nothing. Do what you want with different types of substrate. If you would actually listen you would learn that GENETICS ARE EVERYTHING!!!! Seriously it doesn't matter how many different subs you try there is no control in your research because you are using MS. What you should do is stop wasting time thinking up all sorts of shit to add to your sub and learn to clone to LC or do agar work. This is the only true way to increase yields, potency, flush size.

should i rephrase and say " the original post isn't testing what he thinks he is testing.

therefore any "results" or discussion are merely speculation and have absolutely NO scientific reasoning involved.

its akin to saying, i like chocolate, therefore chocolate is good for me."

All you have to do is tell the OP that when you are using MS you are not able to get accurate results if you use them for side by side comparison research, then explain why genetics is important. That being said you can continue to discuss additives. Instead, you splash Tude all over is thread. And K00laid, you do that on nearly every one of your post that I have read.. Not cool Bro. Take it easy.
