Why is that? We evolved from bacteria and there a plenty of bacteria around. Come on now has anyone even made the effort to look at some real evidence and not just :ancientaliens: ramble :blah:

We evolved from "monkeys" that gave rise to us and to primates. Our ancestors just happened to look like monkeys the same way that ancient bacteria resemble contemporary bacteria.

I don't give a shit about all the counter-intuitive modern pseudoscientific crap with no solid proof whatsoever. The evidence is out there and it all fits into a more or less perfect model. If you can't be bothered with that just go and compare the genome sequence databases (free online) and once again you'll see that logic prevails :logic:

I've never seen these bacteria you are talking about.

And you get on my case for believing in a god?

Ancient bacteria:

Modern bacteria:

But thats nothing. The real hardcore evidence is written in the DNA sequence. Go research that and then come back.

I actually have a really good understanding of DNA.

Proof that DNA was designed by a mind:
(1)DNA is not merely a molecule with a pattern; it is a code, a language, and an information storage mechanism. (2)All codes we know the origin of are created by a conscious mind. (3)Therefore DNA was designed by a mind, and language and information are proof of the action of a Superintelligence.

We can explore five possible conclusions:
1) Humans designed DNA
2)  Aliens designed DNA
3) DNA occurred randomly and spontaneously
4) There must be some undiscovered law of physics that creates information
5) DNA was Designed by a Superintelligence, i.e. God.

(1) requires time travel or infinite generations of humans. (2) could well be true but only pushes the question back in time. (3) may be a remote possibility, but it’s not a scientific explanation in that it doesn’t refer to a systematic, repeatable process. It’s nothing more than an appeal to
luck. (4) could be true but no one can form a testable hypothesis until someone observes a naturally occurring code. So the only systematic explanation that remains is (5), a theological one.

To the extent that scientific reasoning can prove anything, DNA is proof of a designer.

What about all the codes we don't know about. It is indeed a trippy and mysterious code. That junk DNA is actually a regulatory hot stop. Much of the junk is transcribed into functional RNA that controls the activity of the actual genes and other "junk" material. There are many codes my favourite being the competing endogenous RNA language

Its pretty much proven in a test lab that negative entropy (i.e. information generation) is possible if the right environmental parameters are set. I think they did it to find the most thermally stable enzyme for subsequent use in washing powders.

Pretty much that. It could be because people just can't be arsed with admitting they don't know shit about something. So they automatically justify with something as ludicrous as god (ludicrous refers to the common ideas about god including religion etc. not the legit astrophysical theories

We did not evolve from the monkeys we see today, they much like us have evolved into their current state from millions of years of mutations and natural selection. We can see these mutations from DNA sequencing and looking where we branched off and how similar we actually are.

An example of our pre-decendents is the classic Lucy She by her bone structure show a skull much smaller, mostly attributed to apes but walked upright like humans do.

Too deny evolution in light of countless evidence(wikipeida link if you wish to read more) is simple ignorance.

This took a while to write. :awehigh:

There doesn't need to be a book that defines morality as morality changes depending on the situation, what makes this guy a hero and what makes this guy evil?  For at least the last 2000 years we've been subject to inherited social fears most likely similar to this*.

It's nice that he left out the anti religion slant though, if he did, I haven't actually read it yet.
