Illiteracy in America.
    #14605252 -

Had to go to a school in the ghetto to register for my state paramedic exam and I stopped by one of the classroom's to check it out. I shit you not, the room was filled with about 30 student's(aged mid 20's-40's) and the teacher was saying: "In order to have a proper sentence you need a subject and a verb. Not just the subject.Alot of you messed up you're last exam by forgetting the verb".  :lolwut:

Holy Fuck. Seeing this was just a reminder to how lucky I am to have parent's that gave a shit. How common do you think illiteracy is in America?

less than .3% probably.. but I had to take a mandatory business english class that was about that dumbed down this year.... so its not like all those kids don't know how to make a sentence.

Im glad I grew up in a good area. I went to a public school but it had the toughest curriculum of all public schools in the state something like 5 years in a row.

Good Point. You shouldve seen the school though. It was like that Morgan freeman flick(think it's stand and deliver), absurdly dilapidated.  Would have register at another state test site but that was the nearest one.

Not sure how common it is, but it's probably tough to measure given that something like literacy falls along a continuumm.

Reading a McDonalds menu is different than reading a scientific journal.

a while back I had put some free stuff up on craigslist to give away for free. The same person kept texting asking me 'were is it at?' First of all I clearly stated the location in the posting. I would have just let it slide but they kept saying 'were' although they meant 'where'. Anyhow, I corrected their spelling and then they sent me text about "fuck you you fucking prick, you think your better then me" "I beat motherfuckers down for less"

Ignorance and violence go hand in hand. Did you at least say"you'll have to learn to read to find me first"!
