I joined shroomery after reading this whole post, every single reply from 6 years ago to a month ago in one sitting last night. i feel i have been blessed to have had a friend send me this forum link and for all these wonderful experienced people to share their stories for people like me to read.
all my life i have thought about life and death in the way chinacat or whiterasta describes their thumbprint. I have not traveled to their ego crushing eternity but i can imagine it, and yes, i would do a thumbprint myself if i had the chance. I have delved into acid and shrooms multiple times before but nothing to the extent in which thumbprinters describe their death and rebirth. At the same time, i wouldn't do a thumbprint because i feel its not the time or place to do it. i believe the world i find myself in today is just not experienced enough. everyone i know who has tripped, including myself, would not be able to spiritually take this journey. thumbprinters talk about the summer of love and gurus guiding them along, surrounding them with love and knowledge of this phenomena. i have not heard of such honest kinship in the drug world i find myself in today.

We live in modern day america where cars drive fast and all the hippies have seemed to have dispersed to the lush hills of the west coast. To find people with these experiences and knowledge would be a journey in itself, and i would only, and i think many would only do a thumbprint if guided by someone who knew... that is why i feel at a loss for ever experiencing a thumbprint.

Everyone who posted a story of a thumbprint seemed to be talking about trips years ago(i hesitate to refer to it as just a trip...). I can't be sad for not living in the 60's(i look at that era with the utmost respect and awe though i do make the most of every day i live in the now), but i do believe that the general drug using community moved from acid, greatful dead, and love to ecstasy, capitalism, and rave. (don't get me wrong i love trance) as chinacat said up there, he wanted to guide his sisters and brothers back towards the light. no where in my young life have a met a drug dealer or even acquaintance with that heart and soul so willing to guide people through a death and re-birth. I wish there was someone out there i could find to help guide my generation, but maybe my generation is supposed to move on to a different spiritual path and we're not meant for thumbprints... the families they talk about are special, and i think they're a unique identity that only these seasoned acid gurus will share.
i believe we, nowadays, should look for a new type of family. i'm unsure of what types of new families we could come up with but i feel our generation needs a new uniting sense of right, wrong, and spirituality (i feel a lack of it in the people i see around me every day), "we can love eachother or we can kill eachother, but it is up to US". I think my generation has the potential to re-kinder the spirit of acid, the spirit of everlasting interconnected love.

maybe i dont know what i'm talking about and i'm rambling. but i do know that acid is not just a "fun" experience. it's a learning experience. i am young but not hopeless. and how chinacat describes it, i do believe that thumbprints are a true gift from god.
