need help finding

i live in central illinois(Dwight,60 miles south of chicago) and i want to find some magic mushrooms. Can someone please tell me where to try to look, or if right now is a good time to look for them anyway. Im really starting to get pissed off when i see miles and miles of corn in this damn state,and about 50 feet of prairie that i think could possibly hold some mushrooms for the pickins. Maybe i should go in a cow pen thing and look on their poop... i really dont know....someone help me out here. i've never tried mushrooms and im really anxious.

well your probrobly not going to find any cubes or copes so dont bother going to the cow feilds. instead the only mushroom i can think that might grow there is pannaelous subbalteatus it grows in horse shit so look for stables. now read the hunting faq here for the rest of the details. peace

Panaeolus subbalteatus does not grow directly from horse shit but rather in horse shit mixed in with straw and/or hay compost heaps at riding stables and in manure mixed in with stable shavings and straw.

They do grow directly in cow shit but that is prety rare and scattered.

Erm, yes they do. LK and flanders posted pics last year of Pan subbs growing stright from horse dung.

I personaly have found Panaeolus species growing directly from horse dung. It's just asinine to say that they will never grow directly from dung.

ok....so i guess ill try sneaking into a horse stable or something....but when should i do that? should i wait for a day that is warm? today it was overcast with a little rain and got into about the 40's. It might be able to get into the 70's or 80's in a few days. ill try to look for them when it's humid. what do the pan subs look like? any advice on trying to get into the stables to look for mushrooms??

read the hunting faq man there are pics and descriptions. to get in just ask if you can take a look where they dump the shit/hay from the stalls. if they say no just come back after dark once they leave. oh and wait for it to get warmer. peace

Although this has been said one thousand times here and elsewhere.

My site is hosted by the Shroomery. There is a mushroom ID guide at my site which basically answers many questions asked here in this forum.

Especially photos.

My site has over 2200 photographs of 55 species of psilocybian mushrooms maiking it the largest collection of magic shrooms onthe internet.

However, you will probably have to wait until we are onthe new server because whent he Shroomery is down, then so is my site and then so am I down from people not being able to look at it whent hey need to.

Hopefully this change over will end soon and everything will be fine.
