One last time:

Sigh... lemme try.

the bizzle, suppose that the Tooth Fairy doesn't exist. Now, can you tell me what evidence of this would look like?

If you look in your closet and she's not there, is that evidence of her non-existence? No, she might not be in that closet but maybe she's in some other closet.

If you look in every closet in the world and she's not there, is that evidence of her non-existence? No, she might be in your bathroom instead.

If you search every bathroom on the planet? No, she might live on Mars.

Do you see the impossibility of proving (read: knowing for a fact) that something doesn't exist? So why would you ask someone if they know for a fact that precognition doesn't exist?

/remedial mode off

Republican Values:

1) You can't get married to your spouse who is the same sex as you.
2) You can't have an abortion no matter how much you don't want a child.
3) You can't have a certain plant in your possession or you'll get locked up with a rapist and a murderer.

4) We need a smaller, less-intrusive government.

Can't argue with that.  Well, you can. It would just be futile.

meh...I guess that personally I feel that precognition is logically more possible than the tooth fairy

when it really comes down to it, I don't care. I'm not that good at debate. I will know precognition if it happens to me... I'm not going around assuming it is real but I do think its more of a possibility than the tooth fairy, however remote

the (my) logical aspect of it pertains to cause & effect and interconnectivity of things... but like I hopefully implied, I'm inconclusive about it...but I guess I can't blame anybody for not thinking that it is logically possible (possibility, not fact). I think it may have happened to me a few times but I'm not too sure. Other people think it happened to them, but even if they are wrong its still not the same as the tooth fairy. So for now I'm just not gonna think too much about it, this way or that

Don't worry about whether you're good at debate or not man.  It's all common sense and reasoning- people more comfortable with philosophy, logic, or debate just get in the habit of recognizing various types of arguments, both logical and not.  Just try and be critical of yourself and learn from your mistakes and you'll learn.  In my opinion, this kinda thing is pretty useful beyond yakin on the internet :P

Anyways, Diploid's argument is an example of inductive logic.  In this type of argument, it doesn't matter whether the premise is similar to the question of relevance, rather, it is an attempt to show how a general rule follows from certain premises so that it may be applied to the question of interest.  Obviously, it is entirely valid to debate whether the question of interest is answered by the rule established, however; the qualitative similarity is of the two is of no importance.

Sure, however, it is helpful to be able to differentiate that which you believe and that which is demonstrable or of logical justification.  Perhaps I believe in Creationism.  I cannot provide any positive evidence as to this hypothesis, though I can certainly believe it if I want to.  The problem comes in when I trick myself to think that my belief is logically supported due to wanting to think myself a logical person with defensible beliefs.

Remember, that people disagree with your argument does not in any way suggest that they have an opinion as to the conclusion drawn, much less that they have a positive belief in the impossibility of the phenomena

I believe precognition is a possibility. However I will debate the issue actively if some claim it's any more than that.

I think it is possible you exist, but thus far you have failed to convince me.
