Could these be Agaricus campestris (Meadow mushroom)?

Found growing in grassy areas from several spots, none of the specimens stained or yellowed from 3% KOH.

I think you're right. See if it gives off a reddy colour when you cook it.

They are A. campestris.

one thing i found about them this season is that for like a few weeks i could have picked them by the garbage can load but then they disapeared. they had a very short fruiting season, so dont feel bad picking lots and eating and preserving. i wish i would have. i am not sure if it will be the same where you are, but a heads up just in case.

Same thing here with A. campestris and A. Arvensis.

Thanks, its taken a while, but I think I am finally getting the hang of my camera (Accidentally finding the nicely hidden macro feature certainly helped :tongue:)

I haven't seen major fruitings yet (Lots of A. xanthodermus instead today), but I think that still could be coming, don't really have any grazed pastures to look on though.  The fields I found these are more of a park setting removed from cars with pasture-like grasses and weeds.

The pink-to beige gills in the younger ones is a tell-tale, and the clincher is a cocoa-brown spore print. I have used these together with appearance already noted by others to ID and consume Agaricus campestris in the ATL area. They are decious in a scalloped potatoes casserole or just browned in butter as a side dish.
