They're Agaricus of some sort. Where'd you find them? What kind of habitat?
Good pics but not enough info... More details. Read the second thread in the forum.

To identify Agaricus to species we need for you to cut one in half vertically and scrape the inside with your knife edge, bruising it. Let us know any bruising reactions - they can take up to an hour. Also, different areas may bruise differently, so bruise the entire inside and watch all of it.

We also need to know what the mushroom smells like. In particular, smell the base of the stem (crush it with your fingers if you don't smell anything) and where the stem joins with the cap.

How firm is the cap? Compare it, for example to the white button mushrooms you buy at the store.

Let us know.

First of all, your mushroom is not Agaricus augustus. That species bruises yellow and smells strongly of almond (among other differences).

It keys out as probably being close to Agaricus campestris.

No members of the genus Agaricus are active. Many of them are edible, some of them are among the best edible mushrooms. Many of them are poisonous.

As a group they are difficult to identify accurately to species. Since you haven't given much of a description, the identification above is tentative, and very potentially wrong. You should definitely not eat that mushroom until it can be identified with more certainty.

Happy mushrooming!

Id-ing by a photo alone is NOTHING.
Portabello, brown button and the white button mushroom are ALL A. bisporus.
Still, they look very different.

I am curious to know what features of your specimen (compared to the description of Agaricus augustus) convince you that it's that species, as opposed, for example, to Agaricus campestris (or any other species).

I hope you didn't do your ID based entirely on the photo. Did you notice this photo, which is linked to from the MykoWeb page for Agaricus campestris you linked to? Your specimen is mature, and the one on the main page is a button. Most mushrooms change significantly in appearance as they mature.

Your location says Rockies. Where in the Rockies?

Happy mushrooming!
